Well, its about that time. The wave of cold that has recently swept the Southeast has passed. Days are getting longer allowing for a reduced epic rate for you multipitch climbers out there, as well as a longer night sleep for you craggers. More climbers than ever before will hit the crags this summer. Rest assured, the warm weather will lure a new crowd of gym climbers to the crags. Get ready for it. Be safe out there, it is NO fun carrying someone's fat ass down the T-wall trail cause they decked out. And remember about 99 times out of 100, if you deck it's due to your stupidity rather than anything else. If you see anyone doing anything stupid, be sure and say something. A quick introduction, a handshake, and a polite suggestion are all it takes to save someone's life. Step up to the plate, but be nice about it. NO ONE likes a know-it-all who loudly proclaims anothers stupidity. When you're hiking out in the afternoon, pick up a piece of trash. Every time. You probably accidentally dropped something at some point durring the day anyway. If everyone did this, there'd be no need for trail days. Be nice to the Scruggs's if you stay at their place. Pay them what they ask for, and more if you've got it. If you stiff them, you are going to hell. Heh, well maybe not THAT bad, but rest assured the Karma police are chucking some BAD juju your way. And for gods sake, have fun out there. Things can change around in your life over night, and you may not have time to climb anymore. Take advantage of it while you can. This stuff sure is fun. Later fellow southerners, see you at the crags, Travis

Climbing season only ends if you let it. I've been out every dry weekend since mid October. But, everyone comming out should be safe. Excellent post. I'm always looking for new climbing partners in Tennessee. Usually for Foster Falls. Drop me a line for a weekend climbing partner.

I don't think we missed more than three weekends of climbing since last summer, spectacular weather this winter. Man I love the south. Soon it will be lakehouse/boat/curahee time, gotta love the summer too.

Just to give a little tip t ogo with TRvis' suggestion to pick up a little trash if you see it, a gallon zip lock freezer bag is a perfect emergency litter holder. THey fold up small and weigh almost nothing. Keep a few in your pack for when you see that cliff bar wrapper or three, and if you are really needing some good karma, that Tennessee white flower, AKA used toilet paper ROTFLMAO. By the way, if you think regular toilet paper decomposes fast, it does not. BUT, you can buy RV toilet paper, which doea break down fast. Burning used TP maight be fine some places, but in the southe there is a good chance to start a forest fire. IF you have that sip lock, you can pack out your paper. Leave no trace, right?

In reply to: In reply to: Well, its about that time. were you hibernating through January and February??!! Heh, been schoolerating. Kicking my butt. 60degrees and blue skies sure do beat the hell out of 30 and mist any day though! Heh. Y'all are making me jealous. Winter before last I probably only missed 3 weekends. This one has been kicking my butt.

What kept you from going man? Isnt T-Wall supposed to be one of the best winter crags anywhere? I've been going to Rumbling Bald all winter and bouldering in no more than a t-shirt and jeans. The climbing season never ends in the South!

Good post. LOL...this, just as I'm lamenting the weather warming into the 70's...suddenly I need chalk again. And daaaamn, the poison ivy is already out in force! This winter was awesome, but yeah--the days are just too short. Plus, I think everyone should bring a grocery bag to the crag, and pack out every piece of trash they see on the way out.

I had a great time at the T-Wall this past January. Climbed in a T-shirt a bit. They were forcasting snow though before we took off to Hueco.

I just joined this site, and I was sent to this forum when I clicked on beginners. Does anyone know of a good instructor in West Tennesse who could give lessons in rock climbing?
