how many points do you have to have on this site to get the next rating. I am a lead climber now and have 1700 points.

The ranks go by number of forum posts. If you click on the rank under your name it will show you the list, and what level the next rank is.

To help clarify, there are two types of rankings. The first kind is BB Ranking. This just considers the number of posts you have. The names like Boulder and Red Point Maniac come from this. See here for more info:

The next type is user ranking. this considers much more. It's the overall contribution including the amount and quality ofthe content that you add. This is the truest measure of one person's contribution to the site. Calculating this is more complicated and I can't explain exactly how I calculate it "or I'd have to kill you."
