There is still time to sign up to be a part of this year’s Adopt-a-Crag or to join a scheduled Adopt-a-Crag event in your area. Our goal is to support 89 Adopt-a-Crags around the country. If we were to climb Yosemite’s Half Dome, Northwest Face (23 pitches), The Nose (31 pitches), and Salathe Wall (35 pitches) in a day, we would complete 89 pitches of climbing. As with all dreams and goals, we can’t do it alone. We need you to help us reach our goal. To date we have 82 events. We are fast approaching our goal. We have topped-out on Half-Dome, the Nose, and have just sent the roof below the headwall and are nearing Long Ledge on the Salathe Wall.

Adopt-a-Crag is an excellent an avenue for building alliances and partnerships and to plan for the future. Be it a crag clean-up of 8 volunteers or a fundraiser, comp, and trail work day with 100 volunteers Adopt-a-Crag is about giving back to those places we love and use on a regular basis Adopt-a-Crag inspires activism, advocacy, volunteerism, and stewardship. In the four years since the inception of Adopt-a-Crag, climbers around the country have built and restored thousands of miles
of trails, hauled tons of trash, and completed thousands of conservation
initiatives.

This year we have expanded Adopt-a-Crag to encompass the entire month of September. We made this change to encourage organizers to schedule their Adopt-a-Crag event on a day that works best for their community and to partner with other organizations. As in the past, you can get all your Adopt-a-Crag information and register online at www.AccessFund.org or contact Deanne at Deanne@AccessFund.org. Be sure to check out the Adopt-a-Crag schedule of events to find one near you this month at:

FYI-
Hanging Rock S.P. Adopt-a-Crag rescheduled to Sunday. We'll do everything as originally planned, just on Sunday. Meet at the Visitors Center in Hanging Rock State Park at 10:00am for free coffee, maybe some pastries and a review of the work plan. Bring trail building tools (shovels, rakes, mattocks, pruners, etc.), sturdy workboots, leather work gloves, and water. We will finish around 1 or 2pm and have lunch. Volunteer efforts will then be repaid for their work by a gear raffle. See you there.

Adopt-A-Crag at Great Falls Park, VA was a huge success. Photos can be seen here:

In total, volunteers representing seven local climbing organizations moved 4 tons of gravel and picked up over a thousand pounds of litter.

Since the event and the last post regarding same were over a week ago, why is this still at the top of the front page? I didn't see anything about this in the new poll, so I'm stating it here... stale content is a sure key to no-return visitors.

San Luis Obispo's Adopt-a-Crag is the same weekend as J-Tree's. 9-12 at Bishop Peak, top of Highland. Be there or be square.
