My gym is having an ABS competition on Dec. 18; we were thinking about having a slackline comp incorporated in the abs comp. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on, how long the line should be, what we should judge on, and how we should judge.

Try a free-style comp. Let the crowd vote for the best slacker.

hey i am actually going to be running a slacklining "comp" this spring. we have decided that instead of having an actual comp (like having points awarded for doing certain tricks) we have decided to have a "slack off" where there will, hopefully be alot of people from all over and all skill levels just slacklining. it would just show very one who slacklines what is possible and what there is to learn. the olny compitition part of the slack off would be that there will be a best trick contest in which the crowd/ other slacker vote for who can do the best trick or walk the longest line. those are just some ideas that i can come up with i would love to hear how you go about doing this. PM me if anyone would like info on the slack off that will be held in LaCrosse, Wi in the spring. i will post more about this later, but i just wanted to give everyone the heads up Ben

Northlander Climbing Center in Rockford Illinois, cost is $25 to pre register and $30 day of. If anyone wants to check out a few pics of the gym you can go to: www.northlander.us, it's still under construction and will have more pictures on it soon.

The $25 will get you into both the bouldering and slacklining comps. We will be holding the slackline comp in between the general competition and finals.

I've been in slackline comps which were races, and ones which were based on tricks. The race was set up with 2 lines about 50 feet long. The racers had to start at a sit start with their butts feet behind a starting line marked on the slackline. You had to go to the other side, touch the biner where the slackline was tied into, then race back. It was set up in brackets, single elimination, winner takes all. The freestyle used the fans to judge the best tricks. Both comps were very fun, and were after the bouldering comp before the prizes. Good luck and have fun.
