The valley should be baking next week, then relatively mild in a week or so. There will thus probably be an exodus to Tuolumne. Anybody got the lowdown on dirtbag climber camping, ($16 a night ain't going to cut it), in or near the park? Also if anyone knows where to get temp forecast numbers for Tuolumne, please let me know. Thanks

What's up Asc?? You should have just called me dude. There are three options: 1) Black out all the windows of your jeep and sleep in that at the Cathederal Peak parking (by the bear boxes). 2) Park by Lembert or somewhere where they don't have a no overnight parking sign, and hike WAY back for a while (like 20 minutes) and do a little illegal bivy action. But be really quiet and don't be near any main trail. 3) The legal way is to drive out of the park and there is this little left turn about 2 minutes from the gate that you can take. It is a blocked off road that you can sleep at. From the main road to the barricade is like 30 yards so you have plenty of room to stretch out. I have been there before and it is nice. Not too noisy either. I have also heard you can just bivy right outside the gate, but I didn't want to take a chance since I knew about the previous. Have fun, climb hard, and don't eat the Curry Village pizza:) TRADitionally yours, Cali Dirtbag

In reply to: The valley should be baking next week, then relatively mild in a week or so. There will thus probably be an exodus to Tuolumne. I'm not so sure that it will be that soon. Tioga road is supposed to open this weekend. However, I would think that everything else is still going to pretty snowed in for a while. Doesn't mean that nobody can climb. But I would think that the hoards will let it melt out before showing up. The valley has gotten hot and full of mosquitos, though. I bet it will be a bumper crop of mosquitos in TM this year too.

Uhhh, last I heard from a ranger, the meadows was under 7 feet of snow. I know the campsites will definitely not be open. Probably nothing will be until at least mid June. Trust me, I'm chomping at the bit to get back.
