Hi,
I'm new to this site. I have been Climbing a bit indoors and would like to start outdoors. I know how to belay and can climb okay. 5.8 indoors, but I'm scrappy outdoors. I've bouldered outdoors. I have equipment for myself, no rope though; and another friend, chick, that is in the same boat.
We have cars, and wouldn't mind driving if you'd share you're equipment.
Did I mention that we cool people too?

Alternatively I suppose you could pester people in your area via PM, but I think that's bad form.

What about posting a notice in your gym? Unless the gym you climb at has no outdoor climbers.
If you live in LA, you could show up to the Apes Wall in Malibu creek any weekend afternoon and you will meet a bunch of outdoor climbers who will usually oblige. Just look up http://www.rockclimbing.com/...tArea.php?AreaID=876

Well, if you don't mind driving 2.5 hrs to San Diego, I can take you climbing any day of the week almost...otherwise, I could let you know if I'm going to jtree anytime soon and you can meet me there. PM me if you are interested.
Honestly, I'd be very surprised if no one at your gym is willing to take you climbing. That's where i've met almost all of my climbing partners.
Here's the key to meeting experienced climbing partners: Go to the gym on a weeknight, best being tues/thurs after 6 pm. Most working climbers will rarely be in the gym on a weekend unless it's raining. It takes some dedication to go to train on weeknights after a tiring day of work...dedicated climbers will likely have more experience.

I live in LA. I climb 2x a week @ the gym and every weekend somewhere w/ friends (guys & gals) weather permitting. I have all the gear. I never mind climbing with new people and showing the diff. areas. PM me.

im up for outdoor climbing on the weekends.
have top rope gear and a 60m rope. not the most experienced achor builder though. would like to hook up and learn some more.
climb about a 5.10a level. could probably do 5.10c if i had the endurance. boulder v2.
would like to avoid long drives.

If you willing to make the drive there is a great bouldering spot in Newport Beach aka Pirates Cove/the Beach. I have been going there on the weekends, its a fun spot and all the people I have meet there have been really cool. You should check it out.

I'm finally getting back into climbing after 7 months off. I climb at the gym a few times a week and have gear to go out.
After the rain stops there's always new jack and williamson (when the snow clears) for sport, and josh for trad. I know some people that get together as well.
Let me know if you need people to climb with.

show up to Intersection Rock in Joshua Tree around 9am on a Saturday or Sunday and take your pick of the scruffy looking guys that will inevitably be there...
if the goods are odd (and let's face it, for this, the odds are good) you can always go bouldering for a few solid weeks in Josh without getting too bored. right at the foot of I-Rock there is a boulder with V0-V1 problems on its south aspect, for example. There must be a hundred classic problems that Dan showed me in one morning alone.

Hi folks! My name is Chris. I am coming from Austria (EUROPE) and would like to go to Los Angeles for about one or two months in May. The hardest route I climbed was an 8b (redpoint) and an 8a+(onsight). I also climbed competitions, for example European Youth Cup (rank 7) and Youth World Championship (rank 20). I am 20 years old and search someone I can climb with when visting LA. The combination of climbing and sightseeing would be a real pleasure for me. Hope to get an answer. Bye bye

I am already thinking about spring break when I get to head back to LA for some climbing. I hear Williamson is and will be still off limits, and its the only actual area I've been to, except for Horse Flats. Would it be a good time to branch out into Malibu areas? Im also thinking about heading to JTree, I have no trad rack though. Anyone here go to Junglegym in Arcadia?
