I know the glasses with the side preferated leather are the standard...But I see alot of newer style glasses that don't have the side leather..Are they just as functional are they better??

The advantage of having those little leather things on the sides of your glasses is so your glasses can be elevated off your face without allowing a huge amount of glare to reach your eye. Basically, by having your glasses elevated off your face allows you to hump your sorry self up your snowy mountain of choice without worrying about your glasses fogging up. Cause’ hey, mountain climbing is hard fricken’ work and if your like me, your going to up there sweating like a whore in church as you post hole your way to glory. Sure you could go and get a newer/better looking pair of glasses that will block the sun just as well, but if they sit too close to your face they’re going to fog up.
In conclusion. Foggy glasses BAD. Clear glasses GOOD.
That is all.
