Hated the movie, hate the actor with the heat of a thousand nuns, but Gladiator sounds wicked awesome (duuuude) on a home theatre. Of course, there's always the Matrix.

Basically any of the really epic movies will kick ass. Gladiator, LOTR series, Troy, Braveheart. Personally, I like The Fifth Element, Matrix Trilogy, Master and Commander, The Last Samurai. Uhmmmmm, there's more... But those should keep ya occupied. Oh, Gone in 60 Seconds too. Just cuz I love Eleanor. Nothing like a badass 427 rumbling with a system able to reproduce it. Oh, along those lines- The Italian Job, The Bourne Identity and Supremacy. Enjoy. 8^)

Dude, Gotta be The Matrix, especially everything from the gunfight in the lobby on. You can hear the shells hitting the ground all around you, Edit. Oh yeah, and watch at least 5 minutes of a big Nascar race. The effect gets old pretty quick but is amazingly pronounced.

Top Gun is a great movie to watch on the theatre system Top Gun? Now there's some good acting. The Matrix is an excellent choice for trying out your new home theatre system. I also recommend Apocalypse Now. It would be even better with THX, too bad. d.

get a nice blockbuster. id say any LOTR, a good submarine movie would also rock (sonar), star wars (either one of the new flics or the old trilogy digitally remastered).

I always like Top Gun for my surround sound displays. And my dad always used to use ID4 (aka Independence Day) to demonstrate the subwoofer (the THX intro and the scene at the beginning when the ships are passing by the moon). You also can't go wrong with Jurassic Park for the sub.

As mentioned, Top Gun is really great. As is Days of Thunder. With that one just skip to the racing scenes. And as previously said any NASCAR race is great in surround. When they do the "crank it up" stuff on the walls will fall down.

Twister is a great one, and the Bridge of Khazad dum scene from the first lotr is awesome. Rocks creaking and crashing and the creature roaring and the arrows pinging off the walls. It's very cool. Needless to say those two are the ones my honey uses to show off our system. I'm surprised the house hasn't shaken off the foundation yet. :)

Thank you all for your suggestions…So far I’ve been able to play a few minutes of XXX and the Matrix; however, we did get to watch Drum Line in its entirety last night. The system is amazing… You can feel the bass in your chest…the highs are crystal clear… The 61” screen gives the sense of actually being in the scenes… Tonight I plan on popping in Everest-IMAX… I still need to test a few more locations for the rear speakers and work with the delay a little more…when you stand in the middle of the room it’s overwhelming…I want to get that same feeling from the seating area.

My favorite surround sound moment was not even one of those blockbusters, it was watching Carnivalé on HBO and realizing I could here the wind rustling the tent flaps behind me. The total immersion is subtle but amazing when you get the system dialed in right
