Going to be up in Boone from about the 12th through 20th. Whats the best bouldering guide for the area, if there even is one? Also, whats the best place to camp? Many thanks.

From what I understand there isn't one. ncbouldering.com has some great beta for locations but not much on the routes. The routedb here is pretty good from what I found out.

^^^^ What he said. Check that website, and also check the route database on this website, it lists a good amount of bouldering areas. You can stop by Footsloggers in downtown boone to ask some beta. As far as camping i dont really know, the camping on the parkway is still closed for the season i believe.

There are a few campgrounds in the area, http://www.grandfatherrv.com/grandfathermtn3.htm is a nice one and very convenient to all of the bouldering areas. If you google, I'm sure there are more in the area. There is no guide for the area, but the site recommended above is useful. Locals can be helpful as well. Mark

If you don't mind carrying a backpack, I can offer some camping spots. There are several prime spots less than a 1 mile hike. If you just want to set up a base and not be bothered with having to pack up every day, the grandfather mtn. campground is probably your best bet.
