Nuts = wired. Much easier to place with a slightly stiff wire. Hexes = slung with spectra web. Just my $.02 ---MH

listen, you sound like a newb...nor worries, i was once one too.. play around with your friends gear....be a whore with it and play with all brands...then buy....find what you like.....dry humping them in a gear shop don't mean shit until you try it on the rock... #2)... nuts are nuts....80% are the same design....get get some plan 'style' nuts like BD, ABC or whatever......metolius, dmm, trango styles are better for different kinds of rock, but worry about that later..... so after you've been a whore for a while, when set of nuts....then play with em for a while.....place them at ground level (meaning don't climb and place them yet, place them while youre still on the ground...baby steps first) i say get a set of nuts, nut tool, 3 smallest tri-cams (learn to love em) and a #6 bd hex (trust me on that)......and keep it at that for a while those are my most used pro and good stuff to learn with....remember to get buddy or whom ever to check your stuff (placements) out
