Fresno Rock Climb (209)448-0643 4055 N Chestnut Ave 93726 I already have a membership there. I've been climbing 3-4 days a week, (pretty much my off days) there for 3 months now. It's actually a really good gym for their size. I went to Sacramento Pipeworks and that place is huge, but their routes are completely uncreative.

Bring a helmet. Maybe email those mountain resuce and see if you can take a course on trad climbing from them in exchange for bringing in some gear and leaving it with them. (they will know what they need)

did you bother checking their "education" section? join the rescue team. they'll know all the areas to climb, habve the gear and know how to use it. Plus, I'm sure they'd be happy to have a strong(?) ropegun on the team.

Yeah, I'll probably need a lot of training to help rescue people, but I don't know if I'll have the time there. I'll be living in different places, and I'm going there to help my uncle fix up a house.

THIS MUST BE A TROLL !!!!!! if not, bmxer you might not want to set up a top rope, or even get near an anchore. go ahead and call those search and rescue guys in Armenia and tell them to be waiting for you at the crag. just say "you can't miss me, I'll be the dead guy".

In reply to: edit: There's a good deal on 3 runners for 12 bux on ebay right now, brand new. Just wondering, do I need those for anchormaking or is Cordallette good enough.? That's a pretty good price, and they're pretty versatile, but webbing can be bought anywhere. Sewn runners are pretty good, but less versatile than webbing. I would get some of each (I saw your other post), as you said that there wasn't very much equipment available, and that you would be pretty much on your own.

Dude, making a sliding x anchor w/ two good anchor points is easier than tieing into your harness w/a figure eight. I'm not gonna kill myself. I read Mountaineering Handbook for two hours last night. Oh and the guy that wrote the book is saying that using a Yosemite Bowline knot to tie in is way better than the typical figureeight w/ followthrogh, what do you guys think? Can someone also tell me what a troll is? I've been called this several times already.

ROTFLMAO!!!!! T3, only because it's so amusing. If this is serious, take the advice of only bouldering. Or go ahead and win a Darwin award.

This thread is real, I'm leaving on April 26. So let's stop the troll business. Ok to sum up the thread. Equipment wise; All I really need is webbing. Safety wise; I should go out w/ someone experienced when I'm there until I can handle things on my own. Or just go bouldering by myself or w/ friends. Ok sounds good. Thanx everyone.
