Additionally if anyone could point out how it compares to the Metolius bags in terms of pros-cons, that would be nice. Thanks, -Kate.

Not sure how it compares to the Metolius, but I hauled my Zion up the $#%@ approach to Mt. Watkins, and it got hammered. Numerous holes in the body, webbing frayed to the point of being sketchy. My partner had a much older A5 bag, packed identically, which suffered none of the same damage. Pretty shoddy. I did get a free replacement, from BD, though, with no problem other than the rep telling me that I should have been able to do Mt. Watkins in a day (he was right). They even let me keep the old one's belay seat. WORD!

I have been pretty happy with my metolius (half dome and el cap), and the honkin old A5 one I scored. Only thing I didn't like about the A5 bag was the stiffer 'fabric' tended to abrade more than the suppler metolious stuff.

I have both the BD bag and Met., the Met. is tougher but most of all the BD is sooooo f'n uncomfortable. You have to have a really long torso for it to fit ( my brother is 6'5" and he hated it to). The straps are very thick but it just dosnt adjust to fit.

I hauled a BD Zion on a solo ascent of Lurking Fear, and found it to wear really well overall. The webbing covering the main vertical seam on the bag frayed a bit more than I thought it might, but only enough that I want to keep an eye on it, no more.

A fellow patron of this site (mr_dirt) has a Zion in which he tore a six inch hole! He patched it with river-bag material and glue. The patch material is tougher than the bag itself. Last time I saw him he was using a river-bag in place of his Zion which was demoted to luggage.

So it seems that the general opinion is that the Metolius bag is a better choice than the BD? I was thinking (actually dreaming) about getting a haul bag. probablly never happen though.
