What's up with the new theme for rc.com? Used to be a nice granite-colored background and the logo was a mountain. Now I've got a dirt-colored background and a monkey for a logo. What's up with that? Granite + Mountain = climbing. Dirt + monkeys = umm.. bouldering? hehe.. just kidding.

i like it, i usually hate when websites change but i always warm up to it. for some reason i like this one right away though.. tha tmonkey confuses me but i do nt' really have anything against it. i mean, monkeys are rad...

I dont see too much of a change but my first reaction is that I did not like it.
first, ugly color. Beige?? It looks dead and ugly to me.
Second, looks like bad use of space. There is a whole lot of empty space on the right on the home page. I dont know, does not look good to me.
Third, the monkey?? I am not a big fan.

i was in jtree for the week, i get back and log on, and BAM up comes the monkey and sand colored background. i almost thot i typed in treeclimbing.com instead of rockclimbing.com. i dont like it.

I can accept change, but the old left side navigation bar was nice. I've been pushing using maps in the routes database, and theyve added one - BUT ITS USELESS. Its continents only. How about a map that actually shows you the location of an area?

I don't necessarily mind it, except for the stuff that's still blue and greyish from the old theme. While I can't necessarily reccomend a new color for these links (FAQs, Usergroups, Links, Calendar across the top, links across the bottom...) a new color is definitley in order to not look so ugly.
Edit: since this is a lot of css, couldn't you have alternate stylesheet support (in Firefox, View->Page Style->) so that we could switch between styles at will?
Edit 2: btw, the last post in thread button is broken now.

My guess is this is some sort of joke. If not, then I’m sorry for who ever who was responsible but the new look because, despite your efforts, it’s not an improvement on the old format. Just because something looks new doesn’t mean it’s better. I mean, brown for the dominant web page colour? Not aesthetically pleasing at all. Personally I couldn’t think of a worse more visually unpleasing colour format. Sorry, but please change it back. As for the logo, I didn’t see a problem with the old one. What does a monkey have to do with RC.com?

Yeah, this is crazy!!!!
The site doesn't seem to have much contrast anymore, I guess I'm not really a fan of that.
Also, the monkey would be cooler if it was more of a monkey.
He needs some arms and legs and such.
However, monkeys are generally pretty cool.

I just got the joke. The monkey symbolises the monkey wrench that was just thrown in the gears of RC.com. It used to be such a nice looking practical well functioning place. Sure it wasn’t without its problems but at least it looked nice, and was easy to use. Tool bars where well centred. Photos where of a good size and the front page looked good, with all its margins filled. As for the colour??? WTF?!!! Did we just sell out to U.P.S. or something?
If this isn’t a joke then allow me to be the first to laugh at the emperors new cloths.
