Alabama Hills Celebration and Clean Up
On April 2, 2005, there will be an Alabama Hills Celebration and Clean Up; a chance for different recreationalists to celebrate this unique place by pursuing your chosen recreation and lending a hand in cleaning up the Hills. Despite several clean up efforts in the past, there is still trash and glass that needs to be taken away. The BLM will be on hand to help direct the operation and answer any of your questions about the Hills. So bring your mountain bike, climbing gear, oil paints or whatever and meet some of the other users who care about the Hills. Meet at the Intersection of Movie Road and Whitney Portal road at 11:00am. we will concentrate our efforts in the Movie Flats area to the west of Movie Road. That evening there will be a BBQ for the participants in the Alabama Hills Residential area at 760 Thundercloud Lane. There will be a short film and a discussion about the future of the Hills after the BBQ. If you are interested in helping out, there will be a meeting of the Friends of the Alabama Hills Tuesday, March 29th, 2005 at the American Legion Hall in Lone Pine at 7pm, to help organize this event and seek volunteers for future projects in the Hills For more information contact Mike Strassman at mike@rangeoflight.com
