ok, so im going to get a harness for my woman friend. nothing expensive yet though, because she is unsure weather she'll be able to ever make it past the climbing gym due to somewhat of a fear of hights. but if she digs it (and im sure she'll catch the bug) we'll get her somthing better that said i dont really know what size or what style harness to get her. i checked the tags in her britches and found sizes 2, 3, 3.5, and 4 ironicly the more snug pair is the 4 and she is about 5'4" has any one got any recomendations? and can any one tell me what size harness coordinates with her pants size? my rookie belt was a BD BOD, and i was thinking somthing along the lines of that... thanks in advance

lucky girl! :) i'm just that size, and my current harness is a men's small, which i crank down almost all the way. her waist is probably about 27"--why don't you just take a tape measure with you and find a model where that's in the midrange?

I have a womens black diamond harness. I wear pants ranging from 2-5 depending on the brand. My harness is a size 4 and I have it pulled all the way as tight as it will go, but its comfy and I like it.

I have the women's black diamond too, I'd recommend the size 4 based on her clothing sizes (4 is the smallest it goes); she sounds about my size and I have the 6 which is a bit big for me when I have snug fitting clothes on, but just right with a couple of bulkier layers.

This wont help with the sizing but FYI we have a few dedicated womens sections in the Gear Guide - one of which includes Womens harnesses. There are actually companies that make harnesses designed specifically for the female form that may fit better than a mens. Also see this post... http://rockclimbing.com/....php?p=954316#954316
