I was thinking about taking a trip to Kentucky and Tennessee over spring break. Is there any good sport climbing to do in TN? Maybe near Gatlinburg?

If you want sport in eastern tn, then you def. have to go to Obed or so I have been told. Although I have never been there b/c the new and lynville are a lot closer; I have been told by many of my climbing buddies that Obed is worth the trip. I would find out more infomation on this area if I were you.

Obed/Clear Creek is worth the trip. If you like bouldering check out the Lilly boulders, same location as Obed/ Clear Creek sport climbing. Further south Faster Falls is also a worthy destination. drtopo.com has good guides to all three locations. Have Fun.

oh, one quick thing on the obed, you would be well advised to work some roofs before heading there. There are lots of great routes that do not feature roofs but many of the most classic routes, such as Rage, mentioned above, are horizontal. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

As an Obed/Foster local, I can assure you that some of the best sport climbing in the country is at both locations. However, our weather of late has been very wet, so I hope you like roofs. Be sure to bring your downtoe shoes and a 60m rope.

if you're gonna go to TN/KY you might as well make the trip a few hours more east into NC, looking glass is a nice place, usually pretty sunny and warm. both trad and sport multipitch stuff. you can check out most of the southeastern rock at www.seclimbers.org

Foster Falls is really really cool there is so much climbing in the south you could never get bored. Some of the best sandstone I have ever seen. And that says alot.
