My partner is a worry-wart

So I was out climbing this weekend, just chilling in the South Platte climbing some easy wide cracks. My buddy, rc.com user edl, got up to the hanging belay and totally flipped out.

First off, he can't climb a wide crack to save his life, so I think he was a little on edge, but geez he freaked out.

I had a bomber anchor, equalized 3 ways through 2 independant slings. On top that I had two locking biners and both locked. He's a total asshat, I think he's afraid of heights or something. He did manage to snap a picture while throwing his fit.

Other than his little tantrum, the climb was great.

Is that pic of you? I'd worry too given that you seem to have no eyes or nostrils. No eyes I can deal with, but without nostrils your head must be full of snot.

You've caught onto my jealousy. Even as a hetero male, I can't deny a certain affinity for the glistening forehead and yellow rope.

I'll post that picture, it's the same thing, just close up.

I don't understand what the fuss is, that is a newer rigid friend. It has milled camstops, so it's OK to use passive. Plus I used two locking carabiners.

You are quite the comedian.

Did you stuff that cam in there passive because you had to? Or because you wanted a laff at your partner's expense? :P

Take some comfort in having a partner who's a worry-wart. I had one that wasn't and should have been, 'cause he sure turned me into one! I remember following him on a route some years back; I got to the belay about 300' off the deck and in perfect Layton Kor-like fashion he said "Don't fall or we'll both go", and he wasn't kidding. He liked to refer to himself as "King of the Manky Anchor" a title he fully deserved.

It's a real swell anchor, although maybe a bit over-kill. Two non-lockers, opposite and opposed, would have been sufficient.

And don't forget - if'n you think you might run out of pro at the top, you can bring along pictures of cams and nuts to tape to the rock as part of your anchor, too.

I read "Climbing Anchors" and "More Climbing Anchors" and that shit ain't in either one of 'em. Then I read the "Boyscout Manual" under the section of "How to catch a Snipe" and I found that setup. If it'll hold a Snipe, it'll hold a fall.

Well it seems that cosmiccragmand and tradalltheway would agree that the anchor is sketchy at best. I can't believe that anyone would climb on an anchor like that. Not me brother. I would have "flipped-out" too.
