I'm from an area with no real rock so i almost exclusivley climd on the local outdoor wall unless i make a 3 hour plus road trip to somewhere with real rock. I'm having problems with my footwork, primarily smearing because the wood on the walls is so slick in most places. Is the problem I'm having with the contact betweeen my shoes and the slick wood, or is there something I can do to work on my smearing techinique? Any advice would be appreciated.

Although the fact that your climbing on wood is most likely a lot of the problem, make sure that your lower leg is as perpendicular to the wall as possible for as much force into the wall that you can get.
