Before I gave up the caffeine this stuff was it. I do remember it loosing its effect as my tolerance built up. Then I just drank several of them. The best way I ever consumed the Red Bull was with a huge cup of ice, nice and cold, that was nice. I remember Sam's Club sold them in the case for like $25. I serve a ton of bull bombs at the bar I tend. Don't drink caffeine anymore though.

I had red bull once. It was a two day stretch of driving and not stopping for hotels from dallas to new york (28 hours). Me and my brother got some red bull and all that happened was I was left with an after taste of robitussin for a good 5 minutes. I promptly fell asleep in the back of the car.

I can't vote, haven't been able to for weeks, something is messed up (don't know if it's me or the site). Red Bull, no, it's a waste of money. For the same price you can get a rockstar, it's twice the size and essentially the same. They are loaded with caffiene and various versions of caffiene. I don't drink any of these things before a climb, they don't help. The morning before a climb, I like a good strong coffee or cappucino. I still don't know that it helps. Some of my best days climbing I was yawning and rubbing sleep out of my eyes the whole day, but when I got on the rock I was on. I do follow a get amped routine for bike racing. It consists primarily of caffiene, loud music, and puppy kicking (or other methods of getting pissed). Caffiene is unquestionably an aid to a longer duration activity assuming you've got the calories to feed the increased metabolism. A good dose of coffee in the morning will probably make you feel better on a long multi-pitch adventure, or even a couple hours. If I remember my ex-phys class correctly, caffiene would be nearly useless on an effort of less than 5 minutes. I do know of some climbers who use chewing tobacco before a climb to get all amped up, I've also seen some pretty damn good tweakers on the rock. Unfortunately, if you want a substance to help you, it's going to hurt you too.

Yop, it doesn't help me either. Well, if it does i can't feel the difference. Same way with power bars: if they ARE helping, I can't feel it. But I drink the red bull with them cause it tastes ooh ooh so good!

Either way, it won't make a difference on a 10 minute lead. Powerbars are good for a jersey pocket on a bike ride, in climbing where it's a little more casual, I strive for real food, it tastes better.

I can't vote either. Anyways, I gave up caffeine because I noticed I get a migraine about 20 minutes after any caffeine. So, no Red Bull for me. Caffeine is nasty stuff.

It makes me way too jittery and I climb even worse than I normally would. It also ups my spray quotient, which is bad. I'm a mean drunk ;)

I drink caffiene like once a week, so i don't form a dependence like some people at my school. Give me water and gatorade or give me death. Yes, i knwo gatorade has sugar in it, but I only drink lemon-lime, like that makes a difference. I will never drink coffee, becasue i don't want to give starbucks my money. Also i don't want a dependece. Caffenine is just as bad as weed if not worse

I dont like the red bull, it turns me into a jittery wreck. I usually like green tea or a good cup a joe every once in a while.

red bull works great, so does everything else mentioned-but takanhase has got it right, if you want to get awake, be able to concentrate, and NOT feel all jittery, nothing beats the green tea....simple age old solutions do work...
