Advice please! It's a very significant b-day for my girlfriend coming up - she'd like to travel someplace and would be happy to climb some - I'd definitely like to climb if I'm travelling out of the US. But it will be August - so where to go? Japan? Thailand (expect it to be hot)? New Zealand? (is that late enough in the spring to not be wet?) France???? Oh yeah, sport and bouldering. And thanks to working like a drone for big fat corporate entities for the last 3 years - for the first time in my life the trip cost isn't the most important issue. So... anyone (but ladies/women/girls especially) where would you want to go?

i'm not a lady.. (well some might argue that) but I would say Japan... considering the time of year... unless Australia's season is winter (err summer? damn southern hemisphere) one of the two. man, i want to take a trip to wherever i want and have money not be an issue. fark i'm jealous.

Well if you stay in the U.S. I would recommend the Eastern Sierras. You can find places that have 2-3 days of climbing per approach, or you can just stay in the Whitney area (Iceberg lake) and definately have 7 days of climbing available. It is a beautiful place and you could give her the b-day present by humping all the gear in!!

i am not sure about the weather, but if i were you i would either go to halifax NS, or christchurch and hit up the castle hill basin. both places have amazing bouldering, but i think the city of halifax is a little cooler in my opinion. just make sure you go somewhere and enjoy it while you are there

id say Nz, but you have too keep in mind that the seasons are reversed there. thailand is probably too hot now. id say europe. nothing like a nice romantic trip to france. i especially reccomend les calanques. seaside climbing. cant get any better than this this time of the year.

Northn China (Bejiin) has some awsome climbing and would offer you comfortable temapature in August. Getting Around is Cheap, and since it doesn't sound like you're planning on climbing the entire time, there's load of great things to see. Down Side: Long Plane ride. Shorter plane ride would be the Dolomites. Some great sport routes in all ranges and some are multipitch. Great food, great locals, and gorgeous setting.
