amen to that, sista!!!

oh, and lew said to mention the shopping cart derby, sword fighting with bread, and hand-walking contests. :)

he's going to alaska this summer, but said that getting together in the fall would be fun.

i think that pooling money would be a great idea. i can setup a paypal account or something to help everyone get there.

also, i talked with a travel agent, and she said that if there were 12 or more people flying out of the same airport, they would qualify for a group discount. we'll need dates/locations worked out to get specifics on the money saved, but it's another idea for the east-coasters. :)

ps. Mark, great idea on the software. Let us know the URL when it's done. 8^)

We need someone to write gathering software. Everyone who wishes to attend can punch in their home location, their climbing preference (ie: bouldering > trad > sport) and whether they can afford to fly or not. The program then takes all of the climbing area data from N. America and spits out the best location for everyone to meet. Why do your own thinking when computers can do it for you? :P

any takers. I know NO programing.

mark, your the one who helped me thru most my "help" MEEEEE.
on my mac! who's up for that???

paypal is a great idea. Amber, how would that work? If all is serious, I'd spit money that way. :)

all these emotions are flooding.
what great memories.

I remember traveling to SLC and bringing nearly my entire camping/climbing gear. weighed more than I, and I dragged that military sack so much it had a hole by end of first day.
duct tape has saved it, to this day.

lew's memory is soooooo much the fun of the first night.
those mormans thought us insane.

the that pool!! thank goddess for chlorine!

Ok, so maybe the gathering program idea was a bit over the top but if we had a list of who all was interested then we could try to plan a mutually convenient place to meet.

Or we could just all fly to Mexico.

Mick, Cool Deal!

Okay, so for locations, we have:

Rumney: Scene of Ambers emotional trauma, blue toes, froo froo's, and team Grant breakfasts.
There's also sport of all grades, some trad routes, bouldering opportunities, and for those seeking multi-pitch adventure there is Cannon Cliff just a short drive up the road.

And for those romantically inclined (Rob & T  ) there is always leaf peeper season.

I think Rumney in the fall would be an excellent suggestion.. It'll give us time to save money for T & Rob, etc...

'course, Marky Homemaker won't want to drive across-country... :p

I remember...

... Amber in bondage ...

... paying to go to the swimming pool, just for the shower ...

... buildering inside and outside the pool ...

... fireside stories, songs, and Shakespear ...

... feeling like I was with family ...

... tons of food from Adam and Karen ...

... quad mochas, mmmm, mochas ...

... wicked crank sessions during the day ...

... flailing, belaying and watching others flailing on the roof ...

... Paul taking a monster whipper onto a micronut and nearly welding it into the rock ...

... cleaning a Hex onto Mark from 40' up (sorry about that, it slipped) ...

... Mark laying tread marks on Lew's face with his climbing shoes after blowing off the "upside down" boulder problem ...

Ah, the good times - those and many more like them. Can't wait to see you all again and pick up where we left off. I am reigning "Prettiest Foot", you know, have to make sure I am able to defend my title (well, tied with Dom, at least).

great memories, good stuff. i had forgotten (*cough* - blocked from memory) the bondage, lol.

i'll set up the paypal accout for anyone who wants to contribute to a general airfare fund. i'll post the info once it's established.

just checked airfare, i can fly to cabos/san lucas for less than $400. ;) squamish is ~$650. but why stop there, if we're getting exotic, let's go to belize!! :)

btw, would anyone want to contribute via credit card? if so, i'll set up a business paypal account. otherwise, you'll have to establish your own paypal account or pay by check/cash before/at the event. paypal will take about ~2-3% of the amount donated to process the card, but their fee is pretty nominal.

lemme know,
amber

I will be moving to Flagstaff in late August, so I would do my best to pull off any southwestern fall extravaganza.

As a side note: Rumney 4 is going to happen regardless of whether I can make it. It looks like it might be in the middle of midterms for me, but even if it's not, money will be a huge issue (AZ-NH round trip ticket... yikes.) I'm going to try as hard as I can to be there, but my dad is going to allow the festivities to continue either way. In case anyone was wondering. :)

Keep me updated in case I forget to check back here!

well, is everyone burned out on jtree yet? after all, it's where the romance began.

Wow!!!!
one word. To put this whole experience to words...I may go on a long time, and editing is not an option.

I usually have no problem expressing my love for this site...as we all know, and if you don't...well, I DO...

I learned so much from my newest friend hangerlessbolt...words can't be found...just lucky to have met him...kind enough to give me a ride, humored me with my peanut butter and jelly lunch.
He lead, I cleaned....got to the top of the route...looked out...we didn't even speak...didn't need to.

Adam was an incredible source of inspiration...his soul and patience, and energy...I've never met anyone like him...Can that man CLIMB and with FLOW!

Karen, absolutly graceful as a climber...and kind hearted, funny too!!! And dang she can cook, a mean pasta!!!!

Souron:
Nothing like I thought he'd be like, I mean that in a good way. Enjoyed his energy and adreneline...good conversation... eeyorr

In reply to:
I couldn't get out until Saturday and only stayed for the day...But DAMN what a day it was.
I practically live in Josh on the weekends during the winter and I haven't had that much fun in a long time.
I had a quick breakfast at the Country Kitchen and headed in to meet everyone.
My bro, "toobigtoclimb" was just pulling in as I arrived.
We got introduced then headed over to Hemmingway.
Adam led some routes to get TR's setup. I hauled up Dung Fu with Nikegirl on belay. Upon reaching the top, I sat up an anchor while NG cleaned. She was trailing a rope and I had no idea who was on the other end of it. I put the mystery person on belay and began taking in rope. Within no time Addiroids was up on top.
He looked familiar so I asked if climbed at Tahquitz, he answered yes. I asked if was a med student, he turned and looked at me for a second and asked, "Do I know you?" Turns out he and I met last year on adjacent routes about three pitches up. Small world.
We had some lunch, took some group photos and headed over to do some bouldering. (By the way, I look much better in low resolution!)
You would’ve had to be there to get the whole bouldering vibe. It was way cool. Don’t let Adam’s modest demeanor fool you…the dude climbs like a freakin’ animal.
We all watched the incredible sunset…a beautiful mix of reds, purples, oranges, pinks, and blues…one of the best that I’ve seen.
Later on we hung around the campfire. Karen made a serious noodle dish that was to die for. Adam and the gang played some fun rounds of Bop-It Extreme…
Unfortunately the time to leave came way too soon. But I have memories of that day that I will carry throughout my lifetime…

In reply to:
Life is stressfull around my house...lately.
VACATION!!!

I take off for a nice 4 day trip to California...my old stomping grounds !

A couple of months back...I hit Joshua Tree again.
My soul still is there. Will always be my favorite spot. Without a doubt.

FAMISHED!! Saved the day! Robert and I went to dinner after, fairly late. I laughed so fricken hard the whole meal. Blew snot...Blew food outta my mouth...and??? inhaled food up my nose...
AH such FUN!!!!!!! I kid you not! The best time
The next morning I met Jeepmonkey for Breakfast
Jeep Jeep!! I met him at the first Josh Gathering...and we've been IM'ing since. He's one to make me laugh also. We talked, until he had to go to work. Nice visit just need to climb next time.

All in all...I forgot my worries! Hated to come back.
Now it'll be UTAH!! whoo hoo!!
Looking forward to meeting more RC.com friends!

THIS SITE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Trev and Adam!!
You have no idea, the impact this site has!!

it's also within driving distance of flag, and between the three airports, one can generally find reasonable airfare.

Okay, kids, we've all talked about it via IM, on the site, on the phone, and via PM .. and now we've got something special to celebrate - hanger & nikegal are officially engaged (w00t!, or weeeeeeeee! as the case may be) .. so now it's time to plan for a reunion of sorts to come together and celebrate their engagement....

And to think, I was a small part of rc.com history--sitting, as I was, directly across the table at Edchada's from the two lovebirds as the actual proposal unfolded. 8^)

here are some sample fares to SoCal. i used the first weekend of november for starters. if the location works, we can reverse engineer a date based on airfare. :-)

ohio - lax .. $200
vancouver - lax is $378/person *ouch* .. but maybe we can pool money to make it more affordable for the fiendster
buffalo - lax .. $349 .. okay, so we'll fundraise for both of the canadians. :-)

i'll bring the bop-it and my coffee cup. :)

I've got a Bop-It. I can even score upwards of 150 at 75mph. I usually get out when I have to pass someone.

And no, I wasn't bopping it when I got in my accident last week.. maybe if I had been, I woudn't have fallen asleep and I coulda saved myself a hospital visit!! :p

If I drive to J-Tree, I'm pulling over hourly for a nap.

Hoh oh  Am I going to throw the cat amongst the pigeons here.

What about two parties? :righton:

OK here's my reasoning and ulterior motives:
1) Two parties are better than one.
2) Having one in the east and one in the west eases the east/west logistics
3) Rumney in October is supposed to be happening anyway.
4) Rumour has it that a pair of fools will tie the knot in J-Tree in spring (oh and R & T are getting married too).
5) Two parties are better than one.

Ulterior motives:
6) I've never been to J-Tree.
7) I will be flying to Britain for my sisters wedding in early November.
8) Whatever job I have at that time is unlikely to let me take two vacations back to back.
9) I can make the Rumney long weekend.
10) I want to go to J-Tree in the spring.
11) I want my friends at both parties (or at least my Camalots).

So what do you guys think, can you stand to see that much of me? Can we do either/or/both of a fall party in the east/spring party in the west?

Or how about a third option. We all meet in the Canadian Rockies in January/February and go ice climbing? :wtf:

.....why do i always think of hangerlessbolt when I see ---> :robert:
or nikegirl when I see ---> pfft :P ----- NOT.

If I can't make it in October, you've already been appointed Master of Ceremonies, just as a warning. If you want Head Cook or Head Drunkard, you'll have to fight the other Grant for 'em.

ice climbing? hahaha. that's cute. you've got my one and only ice climbing experience. ;)

as for two parties, as much as i like the idea, i doubt that i'll be able to afford that many flights. flying to the east is generally pretty expensive, and i already have one trip planned for the summer, so i dont know if i'd be able to afford two flights to the east and another to the west in the spring, and trying to herd a group of cats for two trips within a year might be difficult. hell, it's taken how many years for us to plan another get together?

what about everyone else? is taking a trip in the fall and another in the spring very realistic?

grant, how long will you be taking off work for rumney? trust me, there's not much ice in jtree, but there's plenty of rock for two trips. (engagement and wedding parties)

mick, what happened to you, buddy. what does your ability to make it to lax look like?

anybody else still in touch with woodse and crew? beerandblood? jeepmonkey? ravenswing? fo_d? krustyklimber?
