Camping in Section 6 near the town of Joshua Tree is illegal, as posted on the board at the fence (open yellow gate , board to the left) The area is B.L.M property, under the juristiction of the county who will patroll the area when the local residents call the Sherriffs dept. No warning citations are the standard as it is posted on the sign. Open fires are great fun but will cost you more... Section 6 is not set up for overnight use and impact is huge and obvious. Day use is welcome.....

there are so many spots to camp on the sly in that area. everytime i camp back there i see caravans of people camped out in the obvious turnouts , making all kinds of noise with huge fires. if you do indeed get a ticket out there it is only because you were not resourceful enough to find the low-profile spots or you were obnoxious enough to garner the attention of nearby neighbors....and no, section 6 is not off onaga road.

Even if you find a sly place to camp... It is illegal to camp in Sect. 6. Do not do it.... Soon all of the people who think they need a huge fire, music, belly dancers and dogs will be using the sly spots. Be a better steward of the local resources and go camp at the dry lake bed where its designated for camping, free and no hastles.... The local population is watching you and will turn you in. Be considerate and don't take the new park regulations out on Sect. 6....

I see section 6 from my house. It's pretty obvious when people are there at night!
