Thanks to all who submitted names. There was some really great stuff. In addition to the winners we already announced, here are a couple of last minute adds. You can check them out in our new catalog and on our website in August. total_nobb – Paradox. This name will be used for our new belay device. Davidji – Fury. This name will be used for our new guide shoe. Cmacblue42 – Addiction Chalk (we already posted this one, but you did make the final cut) M3thOd – Mad Cap This name did not make the final cut, but was so great that we are going to make a hat just to use it. The product was actually named by the designer. Each person will be sent the Mad Rock climbing shoes of their choice. We sent each of you a PM, so please check it and respond when you want to get hooked up with shoes. Honorable Mention (Not used yet?, free stuff anyway) 1) trogdortheburninator1 (Rad Moc) Sweet 2) thrmaln (Crack Shoes), Love it, loose my job for using 3) climbingeagle (Extremist) Very nice, Alpine boot Greetings All: Mad Rock is looking for new product names. Something along the lines of a psychological disorder (some current models include "Fanatic" and "Maniac") or astrological, like the new harness line ("Saturn," "Venus"). Anything might work though-- it just needs to sound good; You can post your suggestions on this forum-- that way we can track who came up with what name first. Have fun. If your name is used you will get a free Harness, Pair of Shoes or other product depending on what the name is used on. In Answer to a few posts I saw, 1) Yes I am the sales Manager 2) Names and winners will be selected approx. June 15th 3) We have already seen 3-5 names we like 4) No this is not a joke, call the office if you doubt it. 5) "F-bomb", not a good name 6) The reason for the comp is after 20 hears in the outdoor industry the well has run dry, I am out of catchy names. Thanks for all the help in advance. Joe Garland Mad Rock

The Alto. (Alto = Height when discussing medicine... for example, altophobia is the fear of heights.) Not that Altophobia is a good name, but "Alto" might work for ya. ?

Shoes: Voyeurist, Fetish, Schizo, Insominac, Masochist, Saddist, Demantia, Harness: Haley's, Uranus (couldn't resist), Mercury (light, speed harness perhaps?) you said venus, but a women's model perhaps? Jupiter (big wall, padded harness?) I'll have some more later, this stuff is always fun.

The Synapse! (Synapse: the space between nerve cells through which nerve impulses are transmitted.) Kind of like the shoes are the space between climber and rock through which movement is transmitted.

I spent $700 so my night companion Amy could go out to Colorado and take a "night sky" seminar. She told me it would enhance the carnal pleasures of our camping trips. Anyways, she gets back and all she knows is Ursa Major and Sagittarius. What a ripoff. Anyways, in going through her course material, I came up with: Draco (the Dragon) - good for bold climbers Cygnus (the Swan) - good for graceful climbers Cetus (the Whale) - good for fat climbers Virgo (the Virgin) - probably not appropriate for many climbers

more harness stuff, Mars is OK god of war, but the moons are pretty cool. One is Deimos, which means panic, and was Mar's attendant. the other on Phobos, which means fear, Both of those could probably go for the shoes too i guess. Some of Jupiter's moons are Leda, who was Sparta's queen and Helen's mom. Saturn's moons, Atlas, and titan. That's all i got with celestial bodies. (ooo celest, not a bad one either)

Dude, that seminar wasn't about learning constellations, it was about 'enhancing the carnal pleasures of your camping trips.' Did you notice a difference? I didn't even charge extra for showing her my big dipper or the Archer. :P

Joe, Your "Fanatic" & "Maniac" go well with the "mad" in Mad Rock. Too bad "Paranoia" is already taken. A few others in the "mad" theme: Fury Bipolar Anger And some that just sound good (to me anyway): Crush Highball

for the shoes: - pyromaniac - psychosis - addiction or addicted for the harness, i had the thought of the astrological concept of a rising sign, as that goes nicely with the notion of climbing - rising upward: - (insert astrological sign here, e.g., scorpio) rising

If you're making new shoes, I think you should call them "the elvis" and make them outta blue suede. For psych terms, "ego" was always one of my favorite.

Harness Names: Quasar Compact, extra galactic, objects at extreme distances, which are highly luminous. They are thought to be active galactic nuclei. The name is an acronym for quasi-stellar radio source. A quasar is very similar to a QSO (quasi-stellar object) but gives out radio waves also. Aurora. A glow in the Earth's ionosphere caused by the interaction between the Earth's magnetic field and charged particles from the Sun (The Solar Wind). It gives rise to the "Northern Lights", or Aurora Borealis, in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Aurora Australis in the Southern Hemisphere. Aphelion. The point in an orbit around the Sun at which an object is at its greatest distance from the Sun (Opposite of perihelion). Shoe Names: Synapses Phobias
