I have seen a video of realizations. And i could watch it over and over again that climb is done so flawlessly by Chris Sharma that it is as viewing a peice of art. In my eyes that video captures the true beauty of any well aged climbers coexistence with the rock; reason that second to it being a sport i view climbing as an art. To get to my question. I was wondering if Realization is still considered what it was in 2001? The worlds highest graded climb. And if Sharma is still the only one to do the complete climb succesfully. Also what is it that caused so many to call Sharma a pothead (im sure it has something to do with pot... just why the attack?)? Just wondering bout this stuff! One!

i'm pretty sure it has been repeated 3-4 times as to it still being what it was in 2001 it seems it has become a benchmark 15a because many recognized climbers have tried or repeated it

Sylvain Millet bagged the 2nd ascent and then claimed it shouldn't have been renamed, that it was only the logical finish to Biography and that it was easier than 5.15a It'll take several more 5.15a ascents for anything to become benchmark.

I think some people have called him a pothead because he tested positive for THC before a competition a few years ago. Not much of a performance inhancing drug if you ask me, unless you were doing a scary trad lead perhaps.

In reply to: In reply to: And 'elvislegs' you one them stupid kids. Yes he are. ouch. High School English maybe? jeez. to answer the question: yes, SEVERAL other climbs in the world have been graded 9a+ (5.15a) or harder. :deadhorse: Realization has seen only two repeats and LOTS of attempts... probably because it is just such a gorgeous line. If I could climb ONE really hard sport route in my life, Realization would be it. For clarification: Millet is wrong, FA gets the name. Paxti and Millet both had been working it for years, btw. and finally, elvislegs is not "one them stupid kids." he's actually pretty much the man, so shove it. his point was simply that this topic IS beating a dead horse and you SHOULD have looked it up in the archives, n00b. :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

In reply to: For clarification: Millet is wrong, FA gets the name. wow ike, good thing you're here to set the rest of the climbing world straight!! I'm sure there are many who would disagree with you and think that the climb should not be renamed, it was bolted as a complete line, but anchors were put at the end of the conceivable climbing on the FA. sadly, i'm sure there are many who would agree with you that the "FA gets the name", and i'm also sure they are more vocal...
