I've done this same thing to a bunch of my pics, including the two below. I personally don't have a problem at all with photoshopping. Photography is art, and making your photos look better is all a part of it. :) Your edits are pretty much undetectable. It's always nice to have a random background like leaves. :D Here's one of my earlier ones. Any PSer would detect it imediately if they looked for it, but if you draw a line from his shoulder up to the upper right corner, everything right of that is cloned. Passes casual observation though, which is all I really need. :) http://www.morffed.com/.../2004/climbing03.jpg This one is detectable if you know what you're doing, and notice the similarities in the trees on the top left and right. Pretty much all the edges except the top were cloned in to a certain degree. I didn't bother to remove the dust speck in the upper left, though. http://www.morffed.com/...05/slacklining02.jpg

Just my opinion, but the shadow across the pad distracts me for some reason.

In reply to: Just my opinion, but the shadow across the pad distracts me for some reason. You know, my friend said that to me too. I think I'll work on that tonight instead of writing my paper due tomorrow...

While you're taking out the shadow you should edit out the spotter too. Although, the top half of his body would be tricky, so maybe just the legs. =P

That's how I learned everything I know. Also, sites like www.dgrin.com help, since the folks there can answer questions. Might check out www.worth1000.com for some good tutorials and help too.

Re: the original, looks pretty good (since they were fairly simple, small edits) except for the rock cloned around the left hand. That's pretty obvious...

In reply to: Where can I learn how to use PS more effectivly, or, use it at all really. I am such a novice at it, it isn't even funny. I got this book a year ago or so, and really enjoyed it. The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby The author is surprisingly funny, and gives "recipes" for how to do just about anything to a photo. Though it looks like he's got books out on Photoshop elements and Photoshop CS now, so you may look into something more specific to what version you are running. Though I'm still definately learning. And since this seems to be a photoshop-friendly thread, I've had this shot up for a while, and was looking for some critque, but haven't gotten any. I know it's all been done many times before, but I had the shots, so I thought I'd try it too. Let me know what you think about the rope hanging out into space, or anything else you see as a serious issue, please: http://www.pbase.com/...1/image/41241247.jpg I should add that it's my husband leading, and he hates the shot because of the way he seems to be so intently staring at his hand garbbing his own azz. ;-) But from a photoshoping perspective... anything I should have done differently?
