I have never had a problem, ever. If you fear what might happen, you can always tape it or just take it out and put it back in when you are done climbing. You have had it long enough that it wouldn't close. I know what you mean though, that would be yuck. I take my nose ring out when I surf or jump from walls of rock at Summersville......I don't know what it could get caught on......

I ended up taking mine out when I started climbing again. I have kind of a short torso, though, so I think my harness might ride higher than it does on some other women. I had also had issues with the healing process, so when I started wearing my harness a lot, that just irritated the piercing more. I just wanted to climb more than to keep the piercing :)

In reply to: In reply to: had my nipple pierced with a safety pin through it get ripped (most of the way) out while taking a fall. the rope pryed on it and the other end was creating a fulcrum with my skin and it got pryed off. blood , pain... not fun. luckily this was in a gym, but nonetheless it was not fun at all. That is quite possibly the worst thing I've ever heard. I know a guy who had this happen to his testicles.

HAHA, more proof that machines truly are dumber than humans! The "similar topics" at the bottom of the page gives links to rock rings and strength training stuffs! HAHA, no fear of technology taking over the world Matrix/T2 style. Machines are dumb! This should be an encouragement to get off the computer right now and go climbing! (yes yes, me included) 8^)
