Im planning a trip to Blackleaf Canyon this summer and was looking for some beta from someone who has climbed here. Im mainly woundering if the climbs top out or if there are rappel anchors set up. Im planning on climbing Its Only Money, Venturi Effect, Mr. Sharpie, and Home Boys on Soy.
Thanks,
Andrew

hey man. im pretty sure, but not 100% that there is only one route that comepletely tops out. Im not sure of the name, but it goes at 5.11b, and that is the last pitch too. Ill go down to the local outdoor shop today and pick up a picture of the main wall with all the route penciled on. dont quote me on this info until later.

There's a nasty band of choss about 100'-200' thick at the top of the wall which is best avoided. Most routes end before this band and all routes have rap anchors for decents. Basically climb until you run out of bolts and rap.

This website has info, but sort of confusing too. I've never been there but want to go.

I was just looking at blackleaf last nite. I might head up this weekend to scout it out. On the link noted above, there's also a topo of the main wall (but no ratings)

SFOTEX,

If you click on the name of the climb to the right of the topo there will be a rating and route description.

Chris' web site,http://www.libertypages.com/chris/, is having some difficulties. If anyone needs the topo and the route descriptions I can email it. PM your address.

Cheers

PS, Camp in the two areas a couple hundered feet down the trail from the loop. Rangers have handed out a couple of tickets and would rather not have too. Hopefully there will be a work day get together to build some proper sites.
