Married guys: has this happened to you?

I moved in with my Fiance, got married, and got fat. Now I can't climb. The thing that sucks is that I was hanging out with my wife and her friend who is 8 months pregnant, and the friend is complaining about lower back pains, and just last week I started having lower back pains and now and can't even go to the rock climbing gym!!!!!
Has this happened to anyone else?

No.

But if you want to get thin again in a few years, just get a divorce. You won't be able to afford food or booze.

It happens...but not to the point of not being able to climb at all.

One of my old climbing buddies was/ is 6'4 ... 265-275 lbs.

Now that's a big dude...He didn't get out much after having the little one...but when he did, he climbed.

I got lazy there for a while when my ex and I bought our first house. I went from 170 to 204...dropped back down to 165 a year later.

In a similar position now. New woman...new house...same weight gain...figure it'll be off in a year or so. We'll see.

Oh, is that what you figure? Hmmm... :P

Better get it off now. The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.

*feeling your pain*

Yeah, I'm trying to dial the weight back after a month of doing nothing through injury.

Damn it's harder than it used to be.

Since I've only gained maybe 5lbs since college, I can't relate.
I did get a little pudge around the belly button, but it's not much and seems to have gone away.
I'm not active at all.
I attribute it to high metabolism.
Maybe in a few years, though.

Resistance is futile, duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude.

Actually, it just takes a little more effort. First, you have to decide you want to be a climber again. Then you need to discuss it with your wife. This is a pre-emptive measure for the inevitable blowup about you spending so much time climbing. She'll be much more reasonable now, than after she's cultivated a big ol pile of pissed off. Then get to it.

I've been fighting the good fight and losing significantly over the winter. I've added hockey to my activityregime, unfortunately we go out for beer, wings, and pizza after every game.

The reason you're gaining weight is because of lack of exercise. You see, you got way more sex before you were married...the lack of sexual exercise is making you fat. The solution is to have a wild affair and watch the pounds melt away.

What will be off in a year...the woman or the weight? ;-)

It's pretty simple. The formula for weight gain is as follows:

Calories in - calories expended = any number greater than zero

Once you get married the food is more regular, the exercise goes down as you spend more time with the SO to keep everyone happy.

I went from a skinny 150lbs to 196lbs over 13 years, most of it intentional and not much fat. I pulled it back to 176 and now back to 185. It's not that difficult to lose or gain as you want if you are willing to do it right.

BTW, my previous "high metabolism" was really just plain not eating as much as it looked like I was eating, three big meals a day still doesn't necessarily provide enough calories to gain, when you are young.

So, in answer to the OP, no, it hasn't happened to me.

Jeff.

And here I thought you guys just let go and ballon up because you are out of the dating scene. I would personally bless any activity that my husband would do to lose weight if he got fat (but he wouldn't get fat). Blaming a woman and a relationship for getting fat; I think you guys can come up with a better excuse.
