My climbing partner and I are leaving next weekend heading from NC to Yosemite and we were looking for some climbing places along the way. Since apparently my partner can't stay in the vehicle for that long without climbing. So are there any places, along or near I-40 west of the Mississippi that are highly recommended? Thanks

You should try Yosemite while you're out this way.

I've heard from a good source that you won't regret getting off I-40 and driving North for about 30 minutes for climbing in Arkansas. In fact this same person told me to reserve 2 days for this side trip since the climbing is so good.

If only for the spray factor. http://www.washburn.edu/...city/wildflowers.jpg If you don't have to get to Yosemite a.s.a.p, hit NW Arkansas, pop up to Rock City, Kansas, then on to the Colorado front range. On the other hand, I-40 will get you to CA the quickest.

I have over a month for climbing so getting to Yos isn't an ASAP thing. A day or two spent else where isnt a bad thing. I've been to Moab (loved the place). Havent been to Arkansas...my partner wanted to stop by Red Rocks.
