Hi,

I'm looking for a rock climbing gym on Long Island. I live in Suffolk on the north shore so NYC is too far for me. Anyone know any gyms on long island?

Thanks!

Yeah Island Rock in plainview
www.islandrock.net
16 to climb 4 for rentals tops out at 30 feet, all types of diff

Im going there tonight its awesome, but expensive to be a member. but not more expensive than other gyms, they're all expensive in NY.

Ocean Rock was the place, I used to climb there when I was a kid, but they've moved twice since then and only have some pretty empty retail space with diving equipment now. The website will make you think everythings great though last time I checked(right before I went over there and found they were pulling my leg).

so....as far as I know Island Rock is IT.

Peace

When I was there (Stony Brook) ~ 2 years ago, Ocean Rock was still open for climbing, and were expanding their gym. They were located in Islip, very near the airport. Maby they closed since then, but i's worth checking again.

No, really, I was at Ocean rock last week and there's nothing but apologies there. They do plan on putting a wall in where they are now, but they said its only gonna be 20' and not very long.

Remember the dug out basement that they did for like an extra 15 feet? That was awesome! They won't have anything like that anymore though. They used to have a pool too. I guess they just didn't give in to enough birthday parties to stay afloat. Island rock on the other hand......
