In reply to: Nobody can put all of us climbers into 2 groups. How about, "Those with jobs, and those without?"

You know what rock climbers need? An enemy. A good old-fashioned external enemy. We need the entire community of, say, model airplane builders, to come together and issue a statement saying "Climbers is a bunch of panty-sniffing toolbags and we has nailed all your mothers." Then the climbing community could come together to stereotype and crack jokes about our enemies the model builders instead of all this relentless self-analysis and categorization. It's unhealthy.

This is the damndest thing I have ever heard. I think you're on to something here. I nominate wake boarders as our official enemy. Shall I begin drafting a statement?

In reply to: whats a neo-hippy? Defining "hippy" is tough enough. neo-hippy must mean someone who wants to be different, but is too young and inexperienced to know what they want to be different than. I thought I was a hippy after living in Waikiki during 1968-69. I had the long hair and enjoyed the marvelous benefits of girls on "the Pill." Turns out I was opposed to sending our guys to Nam, and then not letting them win. Our Greatest Generation political leaders sent our guys out through the wire with open magazines and required them to radio for permission to lock and load when they came under fire. As a hippy, I was supposed to be against the war AND against our guys for defending my right to be against the war. It took awhile, but I figured out that I was a surfer. So I invited guys on R&R to party at my place and introduced them to girls on "the Pill." I think I sleep better than if I had gone to Canada and crawled back when the Amnesty was declared. Wow, I'm getting old. If this makes sense, you are getting old, too. If not, you must be young or a liberal. Either way, climb on! No politics on the crag, please.

I actually find it more interesting how different climbers can be and still share the same passion. So i would say there are more like 5000+ catagories that climbers fit into.

This is such a stupid fuc#king post and an increasingly stupid fuc@ing forum...."What kind of poster should I buy?"; "What is a biner?"; "I climbed my first 5.6!!!". It's time to take a sledge hammer to this piece of shit computer and destroy my connection with this moronic forum.
