i heard a rumor of a helmet that is certified for both climbing and biking. does anyone know if this is true or not? i have a friend who's in the market for both, and this would save her some money. i've tried the search, i've tried google, altho i do seem to remember a thread abou this recently. and fwiw, i know that climbing helmets are not designed for the same impacts as bike helmets, and vice versa. i'm looking for a newer helmet that will protect against either/both types of injuries.... thanks. josh.

Well, you could wear a bike helmet climbing, and it would probably work fine. Of course, this would beat up your helmet, and you'd look like a dork. But, I sure wouldn't trust my climbing helmet to do anything to protect me in a bike wreck.

But isn't it hypocritical to refuse to eat animal products, but to buy a helmet that contains them just to avoid having to buy separate biking and climbing helmets? -Jay

thank you cjstudent. jay, i dunno why what i eat or wear matters so much to you. you have no idea why i choose to eat or wear what i do. in my mind, yes, it could be considered a bit hypocritical for me to espouse eating animal products but buy things that were made using them. if you'll read the first post, past my username, you'll notice i said:

I've seen that helmet: friends bought it. It costs about $120. It is so light when you handle it, it feels lighter than air, after handling my halfdome helmet. 225grams (8 ounce?). It has an adjustable headband inside that can be removed if your head's too big, so 1 size fits all. You can get a sun visor for it too. Very slick, looks well made and solid...

You can get one here: http://www.globalmart.com/page/4/432463.htm I have had mine for a few months now and like it a lot. It fits well, super light and quite cool And yes I did use it for rafting and biking besides climbing
