I'm surprised noone has mentioned making Mt Lemmon the destination. Other than the Tucson contingent (who might be tired of climbing there), does noone else think Mt Lemmon would be a nice venue? Plenty of Routes to make everyone happy, sport or trad. If Flagstaff is the place, I'll offer a nice camping area for consideration. Heading up snowbowl road, just past mile marker 2, forest road 522. Primative camping, close enough to the road to be convenient, but far enough off to not be a problem. Was just up there this past weekend and there are several nice spots along the road. The area I camped was only 1 1/4 miles off the snowbowl road. Just some of my thoughts. I'm there regardless.

There are several factors which make Mt Lemmon not the ideal gathering place (IMHO).

1. The climbing at Mt Lemmon is very spread out, and most of the crags have a limited selection of routes, in grade and quantity.

2. There also isn't any camping area that I know of that could accomodate a large number of people.

3. Mt Lemmon bouldering blows.

4. Mt Lemmon sport climbing is marginal at best(Excepting Steve's Arete).

5. Mt Lemmon is not limestone.

6. Mt Lemmon approaches suck balls.

*snort* No. No, it's not.

But it's true, Lemmon is not as logistically attractive as Flag. The pie shop is unbeatable though!

Go Bouldering at AZ on the Cocks. That would be my ideal gathering.

Art, I haven't seen you in forever! Are you finally going to come sport climbing with me?
You had your chance to go sport climbing with me a couple of months ago but chose to stay in bed and sleep in with your girlfriend.
Not that I blame you, I'd rather stay in bed and sleep in with your girlfriend too.

I can think of at least three brilliantly witty responses that I could post to this; unfortunately, posting any of them would result in me getting my ass kicked.

Sometimes the ass-kicking is worth it for the moment of entertainment. Besides, Alex ain't all that big.

but then again, since I'm usually on the side handing out ass-kickings, I can afford to be cavalier about 'em. 8^)

---Ford---

p.s. Alex and Hillary, stop this banter and tell me whatcha want for dinner this weekend, I gotta shop! (no grilling, charcoal is verboten these days)

Fish needs to use this site more often. were you there that night camping at the Draw when Sweeney, Dustin, Bryce, Matt and I guess some more of the Flag guys, and I were yellin "AZ on the Rocks sucks my Cock?" all night becase all those AZ on the Roocks Phoenixians were down the hill? Now that was hilarity (alcohol-induced it may have been, but still.) no i guess you weren't there... you shoulda been though. oh man, and to think i hooked up with one of those girls. i'm so fuckin rad.

And Ike, I'm not quite Andre the Giant big. It just seems that way when you're only 5 foot 8.

Art, I haven't seen you in forever! Are you finally going to come sport climbing with me?

At this point the only people who can make fun of me are the people that are willing to catch a 30 foot fall from me and are not internet whores. If you proceed to flame me I will step on you (Art if I can catch you I could step on you). Just rember people, I make good drinks, you want me there. I bring lots of booze.

Love,

Zac, it looks like me, you, and Ford will be roping up. I'm betting you're the light-weight of the group.

And, yes, we can catch 30-footers. Tried, true, and tested, we are...

*chuckle* I've caught Kole and Alex before in varying stages of Krispy Kreme/Carl's Jr consumption. Not like this is something I really want to do anymore ;)

OK, I'm getting back on task... just picked through the 6 pages of chatter and plucked out interested parties. I'll keep editing the original post to reflect who's coming and other logistical stuff.

That's how rednecks in Colorado show affection for each other in lieu of a handshake or bearhug.
