hello any help would be great.
fish double whammy:
1: do you seam grip/rubber cement the edge of the material that would be touching the rock? otherwise it would wear quickly, no?
2:can you spray the corner joints with a lube?
3: if you are tied in with the double whammy fly sheet, how do you get the rope into the tarp? ie: how do you tie in?
4: are those skinny little non tubular suspension straps really bomber?

Hi Jimmy, Russ lurks on this forum on occasion, but I'm not sure if he'll see this post. The last time he checked in he got lectured by a n00b about the pros & cons of using various types of daisey chains, so he may have had his fill for a few months. I rercently got a new FISH ledge and can probably address those questions, as I spoke with Russ, ad nauseum, about this.
Seam grip the heavy reinforcing material that is sewn to the outside of the fly? Yes! Seam grip the stitching there. Not just for wear, but anyplace the stitching goes thru the fly material is a potential leak point.
As far as lubing the corners.....shouln't be necessary,
push/pull STRAIGHT out/in! any angle will bind it.
Lubes tend to ATTRACT dirt and grit and that's the last thing you need in there!
To tie in....use the same point that your ledge is hanging from on the fly,
or run your rope around and under the ledge. (the bottom of the fly is "open")
1" flat nylon webbing? No it's not "bomber"...ie. I woulnt use it for a runner,
It's not for holding falls, but plenty strong for the aplication.

hello again, thanks for the reply.
for tying in with the fly on, you say that it is possible to tie into the point that the ledge attaches to the fly. is this not as vunerable as the other webbing- it is made from the same material as the suspension straps? you said "1" flat nylon webbing? No it's not "bomber"...ie. I woulnt use it for a runner"- that's what i'm thinking
for threading a rope under the tarp, i guess just a long bit of slack and hope for the best?

In the rain, hopefully your pig is gonna be under the ledge,
somewhat protected from the elements,
so when you need something, you'll be going out the bottom.
The tie in point is way strong enough for tieing in to sleep,
of course backed up to the anchors but its not for taking leader falls,
so no point in making it any heavier. Besides that webbing is very wear resistant. For the amount of weight your ledge will see, those straps
are bomber. Each stap only see's less than 75 lbs.
Tie in length?
Tie in with the lead rope not a daisy and use a clove hitch on a locker
for adjustability. That way you can leave it extra long and adj. as needed.

sorry if i was a bit unclear...
it seems from what you say:
1: no fly: tie in to ledge attachment loop to keep you on the ledge with a back up to the anchor
2: with fly: tie in to ledge attchment loop as above with a long backup gong from anchor under the bottom of the fly and up to harness.
3: pig under ledge in rain
is that the word?
