Sometimes the wealth of information out there serves only to confuse a beginning climber. But, once in a while, a website comes around with such vital information that it's useful not only to beginners, but to experienced climbers alike.

Obviously, someone has been studying very hard.

Any other Masters of the Summit out there??

Hmm, no. It was, I believe 'Dancesonrocks'. Quite fitting, and I'm sure there's several others like it on the site. I'm thinking of planning my own version of the 'Over Under' next time I'm on a summit somewhere....

Hahaha... too funny!

Your phrase "Masters of the Summit" made me think of this gem, orchestrated by baja_java:

http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=55581

I'd like to submit it for inclusion, suggested title, "The He-Man" pose. It's a bit of a modified teapot, as seen in the original article.

Other examples of amateurs (not the single arms raised):

We'll give them an A for effort though.

Haha, that's me in the first pic! I've just summited the hardest peak in creation! Balance Rock... all 5.9 of it! ;)

I think I'll study that website harder and try some of the other techniques for my next ascent.

I have perfected a critical climbing technique and didn't even know it! I must have natural talent! ;)

I thought I was just randomly cheesy.

My First Over-Under

I'm new to trad and just learning the lingo. I followed kimmyt up Beginner's Delight at the Gunks last Saturday.

After reaching the summit I wasn't sure what to do. "Let's get a picture of us doing the 'Over-Under'" she says as she takes off her shirt.

Well that got me excited and I quickly rip off my shirt too, but then she raised my arms and told me to pose before I could get my pants off.

Ooooooh, ok, yeah, of course, thaaaat Over-Under.

Oh well, at least the picture turned out nice.

I can only point the way, Grasshopper. You must walk the path yourself.

Obviously plenty of some of you people need to put in a fair bit of practice. I have seen some good foot planting technique but what is with the arms over and hands out. WTF are you trying to say, ta da, I got to the top?

Fists are what it is all about people. You want to let everyone know that you didn't just float to the top but you crushed every hold on the way.

A bit of historical fact. I'm not sure where the "Over Under" actually originated, but it was lifted to artistic perfection by SNL's Hanz and Franz. So get pumped up and don't be a girly-man. And in case you want to take it that far, there are even costumes available:
