Hey, I've been climbing indoor at a gym in Arlington Texas for a couple of months now, and I'd love to follow a group outside climbing just to kinda get the feel of things. I'm going to join my university's climbing club when I get back to school in Cali, and would rather not be completely clueless. Well, I'm not sure if asking to tag a long is against some climbing etiquite Hey, you never know... but I have my own car and am not opposed to responding to requests such as, "Hey Britt, go grab me a water/beer/whatever." So I can make myself useful and hopefully have some fun too. If anyone is up for it, drop me a line at bgary@usc.edu

I'm new to the area and have no partners. I've been thinking of going to Mineral Wells and doing some rope soloing, but I could probably be persuaded into climbing with a partner. I have a rope and know how to set up a top-rope.

Let's pick a weekend and have a mini-gathering at Mineral Wells one weekend. There are actually several Dallas users on the site ... I'm sure we could drag them to MW, kicking and screaming if necessary.

im new to the climbing experience too. just got some gear. Euroford user is usually my partner in climbing but would be interested in meeting some peeps at dyno rock during the week days to get down some moves and tricks. Seeing as how i work 3 blocks from there should not be a problem meeting up at 5-6pm any night of the week cept wednesdays. thats when i do race car work. Let me know. Also Euroford and i go to exposure over in dallas on sundays now. unless girls cause other issues Also Thanks. i am uber newbie

why does such a disproportionate amount of activity on this site originate from the DFW metroplex? answer- because what the hell else are we going to do? Climb?

You couldn't drag my behind to Mineral Wells. By the time you drive down and set up a top rope, you can be bouldering at Rogers or Tonkawa. Its cool sometimes though.

You are sick Amber. sick. however, I wouldn't mind seeing Mineral Wells. I'm new to the area, and would at least want to see what spank is talking trash on. [ This Message was edited by: camhead on 2002-09-09 07:35 ]

Cam - Not talking trash. I just enjoy other places than Mineral Wells. Mineral Wells is a place where a lot of inexperience climbers go, along with wannabe Ranger Rappellers who have no respect. It scares the crap out of me to see some of the top rope anchors out there. Amber - Wish I could have made it. I had to help my sister-in-law move this weekend. What are you plans for this weekend. Show up to Summit Friday night if you can. I have to close that night.

I'm thinking sarcosis and i would be up for a day at mineral wells. neither of us has done any outdoors climbing yet. would be cool to tag along with some others for a first time out! i've heard mineral wells pretty much sucks due to overcrowing but then again, it would be fine for some local rockhouds on a day trip, with newbies present mineral wells is also listed as one of the top dark sky sites. i'll bring the telescope
