Climbing suggestions in Utah

I will be in Utah between Aug. 10-14 for a family function. I would like to take some of them climbing (some for the first time). We are staying in the Heber City area (South-East of SLC). My question is: what is a good place to go considering their skill level and proximity to Heber City. Would like to travel less than an hour and a half. I've been searching the database and the best I can come up with is Storm Mountain in Big Cottonwood Canyon. There seems to be a bunch of moderates that would be good for the beginners. Is this a good Choice? Any suggestions?
Thanks for your input!

I'd take them to the Uintah's. Tons of easy stuff, beautiful setting.

Any specifics? The database does not have much for this area. About how long would it take from Heber City? Approach?
Thanks.

May have a little more info.
You can also get the guide in the shop in park city, it is a little closer to where you are at. Dont remeber the name of it though, it maybe white pine touring if I remeber right.

From Heber, and in August, I would agree with others that the Uinta's would be the best choice. White Pine Touring in Park City will have the guide; they also run a guide service that takes beginners climbing in the Uinta's. Ruth Lake has several sport climbs that are 5.8-5.9, but no really convenient top-roping; I assume you can lead the climbs and set top-ropes? The areas in the Uinta's would be about a 1 hour drive from Heber, then a 15-30 minute hike; it's very scenic and much cooler temps; take mosquito repellent. Other options would be Rock Canyon outside of Provo; Maple Canyon would be ~1.5 hour drive; American Fork is mostly harder stuff but there are a handfull of routes that are 5.8-5.9. Uinta's or Maple would be the best place to take a group of beginners.

Actually I'm pretty sure you can set up a couple climbs on top rope at Ruth lake. There's a scramble right to the right of (I think) Fire water. The two 5.7s (fire water and the one next to it) are real nice. Good first leads, well protected. That said, I plan to be bored this weekend. I'd be willing to lead a few of these again just to get out on some rock up there.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was wondering about the possibilities of entering Big Cottonwood canyon from the east. From the map it looks like you can drive on Pine Canyon Rd. from the town of Midway, past the Midway Reservoir to Big Cottonwood Canyon Rd. near Brighton ski resort. Is this a viable route or am I kidding myself? If it is viable, approx. how long would it take to Storm Mountain area and what is the road like? Thanks for any info.

You can get to the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon from Park City by driving over Guardsman Pass, you come out by Brighton Ski Resort. Ask around Park City for the road, it is partly paved, partly dirt but no problem for passenger cars. Pretty drive, probably about 45 minutes to an hour Park City to Storm Mountain.
