Sorry, I just got back off of a river trip a few dayz ago...I have posted a few threadz here and there, but I'm not really familiar with this site yet. Ummmmmmmm.....we have MONSOONS ON THE WAY!!! My roomate is a Hotshot fire fighter, and they are predicting some dumpage here and around Shwagstaff!!!! Lets hope the forests open soon. Please e-mail me if this group thing happens, ok??? death_metal_666_2001@yahoo.com No, I am not as scary as my email address...but I do have some floor and couch space for some sleepage if anyone would like such a base camp. Otherwise....if this group would like to come up to N.AZ...where would you like to climb??? The Pit??? The Overlook??? Paradise Forks??? Secret Canyon??? West Elden??? Sedona??? Elysian Buttress??? (One of the best multi pitch moderates I have ever done...five pitches III 5.7+ or a variation that goes four pitches @ III 5.10+A1). O.k., I sound like a salesman here. Volunteer Canyon is way cool too...multi pitch basalt cracks. O'Leary's Peak....really cool....recently developed basalt cracks. And, if you just want to boulder, well then, just take your pick on four differant types of rock within a very short time of the Flagstaff downtown. O.k, I'm done with the pshycho babble......

Welcome to the site, arsenalcrater The best thing to do is keep checking the website for updates on the AZ gathering rather than wait for an e-mail. Let me know if you have any questions or need any updates as you're learning your way around the site! Happy surfing ~Erica

In the meantime, there is anther thread that IS linked to the Event. http://www.rockclimbing.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=11951&forum=27 ~Erica [ This Message was edited by: climberchic on 2002-07-23 14:48 ]

Speaking of Arizona...am I correct that ALL forest are now open (meaning all climbing areas that were closed due to fire restrictions are now open)? Say it's true!!! (fingers and toes crossed in anticipation... :lol) Climberdee

Hi Donna! Currently almost all closures have been lifted as of last Saturday. All closures and all restrictions (smoking, campfires, chainsawas, etc.) in major climbing areas will be lifted tomorrow, 7/27/02. EXCEPTIONS ARE: Closure still remains in effect for the Pinal Mountains south of Globe. Restrictions still reamin in effect in Prescott NF, Tonto NF, and the North Kaibab Ranger District. Check with this website for updates. oh, happy, happy day. ~Erica [ This Message was edited by: climberchic on 2002-07-26 23:14 ]

Yes...same dates (check the link on the first post of this thread), same place. And all the forests in that area are now open, so it's on fer sure! Any thoughts (from the locals) on where to camp? How about where to all meet up (great restaraunt) the first night? What will be th first night (Thursday or Friday)? ~me

I say we overrun the Black Bean. There's lots of patio seaing outside too (unless that's strictly for some other dining establisment in the same plaza? ) The Black Bean has some big ole honkin' burritos- wraps, really- to satisfy your climber hunger. And for people who marvel at the novelty of a tiny girl putting it away like a trash compactor, I can put on a nice show for you I very rarely go to Flag, so this is the only recommendation I can make anyway But I make it wholeheartedly! Black Bean Black Bean Black Bean!

Stop posting to this topic. I want to go to Flag now. Everyone stay home and don't do any climbing until I can afford airfare. I don't suppose anyone is driving down from Ontario?

Been to the Bean, love the food! But...may be too small. What is the name fo the bar right across from the bean? It may be cool to meet in that little plaza. But that palce is a tie for the Beaver Street Brewery. Awesome beer and the food. OMG...the best pizza I've ever had. Only downfall: restaurant setting so not as flexible to walk around and talk to everyone. Easy to be segregated (as we saw in SLC). What say you troops?

Hey Let's have a shrimp/crab boil. Maybe at the campground for the Pit or The Forks. I spent a few nights at the pit last week and it was nice. Rick [ This Message was edited by: flagstaff_climber on 2002-08-06 16:16 ]
