If you're planning on getting to Williamson from I-15, you need to know that SR-2 a few miles east of Williamson is closed due to a winter landslide. No word on when the road will be fixed as it will require some serious blasting into the hillside to create a new road. From caltrans website: SR 2 [LOS ANGELES & VENTURA CO.'S] IS CLOSED FROM ISLIP SADDLE TO 5 MI WEST OF BIG PINES (LOS ANGELES CO) - WINTER CLOSURE - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE IS CLOSED FROM 5 MI WEST TO 2.3 MI WEST OF BIG PINES (LOS ANGELES CO) - DUE TO MUD SLIDES - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE

Caltrans reply on Aug 9, 2005: "We do not have a construction schedule due to lack of funding at this point. Please email back next month and maybe we will have located funding by then. We are trying to get federal funds to make the repairs currently."
