Hey, a post that has nothing whatever to do with the front page redesign!! I'm trying to consolidate my myrid of email accounts, and I was wondering if there was some way that I could set up an "auto forward" from my RC.com email account? I surfed through all the Squirrel Mail options and checked the email help and didn't see anything, and searched the forums, and didn't see this question. Thanks!

I've been thinking about this and we're at a point now where we could offer Supporting Partners a simplified 'Partners Perks' form to change their screen name, control where their rc.com email is delivered, etc. Maintaining an email server is enough of a pain that I'm only willing to do it for Supporting Partners, though. With the volume of spam and viruses flying around the Internet these days, I'm not comfortable managing an email server for much more than a few hundred people (especially on what is allegedly a 'hobby' site...).

Which part of it? Long story short, when the site changeover happened, all the "supporting partners" were grandfathered into that category. Currently, we're not selling "supporting partnerships," but I'm trying to figure out what, if anything, to do with that. I believe only those grandfathered folks can set up POP accounts. Is that something you'd be interested in?

By the by, what is an "supporting partnership?" Is that why some folks have stars? If not as second question. Why do some users have stars? Sorry to go OT, but I don't want to start another thread just for this. Thanks!

Nah, it's cool. Yes, the starred users are the grandfathered supporting partners. In ancient times, users could pay a small bit per year to literally support the site financially. We don't really need supporting partners anymore, at least not in that same sense, but there may be some sort of premium membership option on the table in the not to distant future. I refuse to commit to anything, but if we go that route, I really need to evaluate what functionality should be included. Improved email capabilities are pretty important. I know I supported all those years ago specifically to be able to customize my forum rank, and a few others did as well. We'll see. suilenroc, DDT will know for sure whether or not you can POP your email without being a grandfathered supporting partner. I'll shoot him a PM and ask him to check in.

No, probably not. We just don't have the infrastructure for it. I'll see if there's anything else I can do.
