Reading one of the other posts got me thinking. Any of you slackers think it would be possible and worthwhile to get a group of us together somewhere in the States and set up a highline or two to walk for a few days? Mostly just to get together, meet each other, and have fun, but also to spread the knowledge around a bit and introduce anyone curious enough to the process of taking things up high. I think it'd be quite awesome fun, and I can probably manage to get there if we were to set one up. What say ye?

Scott, Adom, Larry, Aaron, Robi, Clay, Corbin, Dylan, Damian, Chongo, Maria, Blair, Jeffie, Makaya and I were all at the Spire this summer. But we had to keep it chill, so we did not post it!

Yeah I heard from Scott about that. Sounded like an AWESOME time. I'm thinking of the same sort of thing, except with ME involved  , and the opportunity for slackers new to highlining to see how we all do it firsthand and gain that important experience the same way I was fortunate enough to get to. Plus, I just want to meet all you guys, since we've all hung out here for so long. ;)

Thinking of this has got me pumped up. Time to go set up a line. :D

Sounds wicked. We're damn few and far between for highlines in the area - I'm damn glad that one of the areas under development in N. Ar. has a few places or I wouldn't have any aside from the occasional urban line.

Realistically though, getting away for any amount of time with 3 jobs is kinda rough for me.

Maybe we could start out with some possible locations. Finding one that is in close proximity to as many as possible would be good. Setting up some car pooling would be good too.

Indeed. I can make it to a lot of major cities in the west, basically anywhere Alaska Airlines goes. I don't know a whole lot about the country's highlines though, so I'm not the one to ask where the best place for such a gathering of slackers should be done. Any ideas from you guys who have the experience?

btw, good idea, coldclimb.

also, twould be good to know where everyone is, no?

I've been wanting to have a slackfest here in Moab. We have plenty of easy accsess to multiple lines and you can't beat the view.
How's October sound.

and this one is an 80 footer. The only tower to tower line in the Moab area.

I'm headed to Africa in October, that's the only time that doesn't work for me. Should be getting back on the 24th, so sometime after that would work.

Nice pics! Moab would be great in Oct....How about Red Rocks? Vegas is pretty central and easy to fly to....End of September/early Oct would be perfect..

I'm down with Moab, I can get to Vegas easily but will need a ride from there. Heck Larry, I've been thinking of visiting you for a month or two in the spring anyway. Like I said, I can't do early- or mid-October, but any time after that is great. :)

This is an idea whose time has come!
It has been batted around between us for a while now.
And it's time to make it happen!
In the past, all the slackline gatherings have been on the backs of rock
climbing events, or very losely organized.
This should be the first annual Mohab slack off!!!
Mohab is the perfect place to hold this event! Unlike the spire, easy acess
to lots of highlines, plenty of hotel rooms, located in the middle of all of
us! And Larry and Chris are the perfect hosts,
With Dean being Dean, Darrin stuck in Florida, Shawn in jail, Larry is the
man!!!!
SBI is totaly in!
Pick what ever date you want, I'm in!

Anyone out there going to be in the Midwest (e.g. Missouri/Iowa/Kansas/Nebraska) area around that time that'd want to do some car pooling? Don't know though, with gas the way it is, may be better to fly....? If I can get off work, I'm in. ~Niles

november looks good for me.

i'm also down for some car pooling, if the midwesteners can get to boulder, i'll take them the rest of the way. my car's got room for myself and 3 others, 4 if you feel like cramming in. of course, this wuold be preferable, since i'd have to sell a kidney to pay for gas to get out there...

What about Thanksgiving and the following weekend-ish (Nov. 24th-...)? I have a few friends who wouldn't be able to make it unless it's a holiday (b/c of school or work). I know holidays are usually time for family and stuff, but it'll definitely make it easier taking advantage of an existing holiday.
