My coworkers know that I climb, and asking me to take them to the local crag. My supevisor is what do you call "a b****ch from hell", I can't stand her, and she wants to go climb the most. Me, being a"nice guy" in this situation, I promised to her to take out climbing. Now, the question is, what is the most uncomfortable, most painful harness that I can find, to make that little Nazi to be in agon, like a worm on a hook, while she is on a top rope, being lower, or while she is resting? I need something that will leave bruses, marks, and bloddy blisters for a while, so she won't be able to move and can not come to work for a while! thank you for you kind advice, Dima

Tie her in with a bowline-on-a-coil and make sure you leave lots of slack while belaying her on top rope!

You're missing the point here ... you have her life in your hands! Think outside the "box" and you may find your answer

swami belt?? how about a couple of "false" draws at the anchors...you know , like Dan Osman style from Masters of stone 5, where they break when weighted. A good 15ft whippa on TR her first time out should change her perspective a little.

How about the original Whillans harness, instead of two separate leg lops it had one peace of webbing that ran from front to back between your legs , surly designed by some one with no knowledge of the male anatomy .

Just tell her you only have one harness, and make her a harness of 1 inch webbing. GO

ok... ok... now if you want to make it look legit, you dont think she would buy the whole swami belt, or if you dont think you could force her in maxiter's suggested harness... pick up Singing Rock's "Fly" harness - sells for between $25 to $35 - it's safe but very uncomfortable (i have one to put first timers in) - it is basicly just 1 1/2 in webbing with leg loops, 1 haul loop, and tie in points - i put my wife in it once and she bitched the whole time - good times for all!!! but yeah, deffinatly leave plenty of slack on that top rope, dont want her to miss out on any of the realism...

That bitchiness could just be the dominatrix in her. I say buy the harness maxiter suggested - who knows, could be one of your more interesting days of climbing.

In reply to: You f'ed up. Why would you submit to taking out someone you loathe? Grow some spine, nice guy. Sounds like you have a bigger problem than she does. My thoughts exactly. If you don't want to take people from work climbing, don't talk about it. I offered to take a person from work climbing a few years back. About a year later, she asked me if she could still come along. I told her I was focused on multipitch routes, and that it wouldn't be appropriate to take her with. I told her my climbing time was really limited at the moment, and I wouldn't be able to get out with her. Selfish? Yes. If she was someone I was friends with, I would have made more of an effort. She wasn't, so I didn't. Instead of putting your boss in an uncomfortable position on purpose (or dropping her as one person suggested), why don't you drop the passive-aggressive bullshit? Your free time is your own. Why spend it with people you don't like? If anything, get her to fund a company outing to the climbing gym. Make sure enough people attend so you're not stuck with your boss the whole time.
