Yeah, I know, I'm sorry... There has been some discussion recently on one-handed tensioning of opposed pieces, and the locking girth hitch has been proposed as a solution to this somewhat less than pressing problem. When I read what the proponents of the LGH say, I feel like I must be tying the wrong knot. It's just totally unreliable for me. The solution illustrated here is one I cooked up years ago, before cams, for horizontally opposed nut placements. The need for such placements has been greatly reduced by cams, but the need for vertically opposed placements still occasionally arises when it is essential to keep a piece from lifting. Anyway, here it is---the official OFMC Hitch from back in the day, now resurrected thanks to the miracle of digital photography. As always, let the tie - er beware. http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=61229 http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=61230 http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=61231

Well, thanks Slob. This being the internet and all, I'll take whatever compliments I can get. Of course, my hand was massively photoshoped to bring out its inherent but until now entirely unnoticed beauty.

Your trick looks way better than the LGH, but I still like the one handed clove. Am I the only one who thinks it is not so bad to tie a clove with tension with one hand?

Nifty trick, Rgold. I think I'll be throwing that one into the mix. Much better than the LGH. Thanks again
