Hello all.

I just recently moved to the Gunks area (Well if you can call Kingston the Gunks area?) and I don't know ANYONE here.

So to make it short...I need a climbing partner(s).

I've got a rack, 2 ropes, and good transportation. Haven't climbed much this season due to moving, but am able to lead up to Gunks 5.6, and have followed up to Gunks 5.9.

So just let me know if you're interested.

You can PM me when you get a chance. Since your new to the site...click on my name, then scroll down to where it says 'Contact' and click on PM (private message) I try to get out during the week for the most part, but do occasionally climb on the weekends.

Ah, such appropriate information. This guy (gal) leads 5.6 and you suggest the 5.12-and-up quarry. Riiiiight.

Oh, I suppose he could do the warm up route there. That's what, 11d?

Mythos - Kingston is indeed the Gunks area; you're less than 30 minutes away. You should be able to climb after work at least until the end of daylight savings time. And October is a great time to climb.

Don't know if this is the area to ask it, but does anyone know of any bouldering areas around Kingston?

kingston quaries does have a few boulders but you might need to do some cleaning. besides that the gunks (as you know), but if you were there you might want to rope up. I will PM you as soon as I'm back in the area and I will show you some of the cool lesser known routes there.

Mythos, just FYI, I may slag on all-that-is-rock here, but he's a good guy, and you could do worse than to rope up with him when you get the chance.

Hey man,

Kingston is the Gunks area. I live 30 miles north of you and I still consider that the Gunks area as I'm 50 minutes from the overlook from my front door.

The quarries might be a place to mess around but don't expect to climb anything as a 5.9 climber.

If your in Kingston you have a few other advantages. The catskills are right there. Your like 30 minutes from some very good ice climbing, skiing and snowshoeing. Time to invest in some gear for the winter.

Have a good time, you are living in a very good climbing location. And if you want to branch out Keene Valley is only 2:15 from you and there is closer stuff in the Daks as well.
