I think it has a lot with what you start on and the kind of climbs your use too. If all you ever do is pumpy face sport climbs, trad climbing cracks is really hard when you first try them. It took me many attempts to trust jamming and once I could, trad climbing became easier. Also there's the putting in gear bit with trad. In sport you can just clip and go. In trad, standing on a sketchy foot and holding on with only one hand while trying to get gear in can wear you out both mentally and physically much faster than clipping into bolts and draws.
