Hi,

I just got back from training up at the Gunks this weekend. I'd like to find some people in local places who might be willing to lead some easier ascents. I don't think I could do much more than a 5.6 max. If somebody would be willing to lead, we could switch off easy/hard routes. Thanks people!

What - a climber in CT?

This is a joke right? (Pardon the cynicysm, and spelling)

Between finding housing arrangements and new baby in four weeks I don't have too much time, but please PM me and maybe we could hook up on a Su, Mo or We.

How far is Orenaug for you?

I live on the Willimantic/Mansfield line and just started climbing rock this past June...I frequent Wolf Rock and now Pothole Rock quite a bit. If you want to tag along, drop me an email...don't worry about the leading/following stuff; I toprope everything .

Yeah there's a small group of us here at UConn who climb, you're welcome to come with us sometime if you need a partner and want to see some new climbing areas. PM me or the dude above me (newt) if you want to do that.

Here's a link for some places in CT:

http://www.raggedmtn.org/climbct.html

Several of the better places are in the same general area (such as ragged mtn and east peak), which is not too far from you.

I added the area known as whitestone (just above waterbury), but I won't have any specific routes to put up until spring.

Does anyone have beta on this?

There's a little beta at this site: http://www.raggedmtn.org/crags/whitestone.htm, i'll try to add some of it later when i have more time. I'll drive out there sometime as soon as it's dry enough and i have some gas money if someone is willing to come or meet me there. Any idea if it's in the CT climbing guide?

Also, does anybody know anything about a crag in Woodbury (not far from Waterbury)? This is all i could find on it: http://www.raggedmtn.org/crags/woodbury.html I'm not sure how recently that site was updated, are there still legal disputes?

i climb at woodbury as much as possible, and yes there are still legal problems. About 200 ft from the trail head along the cliff theres no tresspassing signs, and its pretty close (about 150) from this guy's house. i've heard of him calling the cops on anyone climbing past these signs, though i'm not sure how much of the cliff is shut off. I've heard theres more climbing on the other side of the guys property, though ive never been. The climbing i've done there is fun and challenging. I would definitely recommend it. Its pretty easy to find, and not too far from the highway.
