I still think it's a good idea for a quick search for climbers in your area, besides going through the routes database. The "fun" I had was seeing the thing work! THat's all the fun I expect from this. What were you expecting jeldship?

hi jammer, thanks for the note, well you see i saw some very funny comments posted ( i thought), sort of comedy central nyc and i often see this kind of humor on the "eurofreaks" thread and it can be very funny. so i thought i would try to participate..well ... sometimes humor can be sort of edgey. so in thinking about it, it occurred to me that the site map can be used for really nice purposes like finding climbers in your area--which of course the area threads do quite well anyway, but the map can be used for crummy purposes. think about it, why are these sites set up in the first place with screen names? and adding info like locations are moving to the personal info end. so that entails more risk in the big wide world of climbing or any other aspect of living in today's world. seems to me that most everywhere says don't put personal info on the net, also, liability on net based activities is still developing on many fronts and can be very different in many different countries. so if someone desires to do so there should be a way to unsubscribe to it. i used the word "fun" in order to say well some people may find it very useful, and unsubsribing should not be interpreted as a negative.

I can see how this would be a problem with the young and beautiful, but I'm an old ugly climba. Nobody will ever have any reason to look me up unless they want to climb and have a blast. My young and beautiful days are looooong gone.
