How often assuming infrequent use, no "sun tanning", exposure to chemicals etc, or hard falls on the piece? Metolius Web site says every five years. Agree/disagree?

nylone has a shelf life of 10 years....most of the manufactures will say this

retirement/replacement after multiple hard falls, obvious fading from UVs, fuzz is OK but when there's ripped threads i get worried, exposure to ANY chemical, etc....common sense...

what metolius is saying is pretty general...replacement/retirement has about a million variables which all has conflicting data going one way or another...it comes down to a personal intuition of go or no go...

^^what he said.

The sling may be worn & fuzzy but still be strong.

The sling may be brand new, but cutting the tag off you nicked a corner of the sling. Might as well finish the job and have it replaced.

Think about tearing a bath towel across the narrow width. Super strong, huh? But start a tear with just the tiniest of cuts and you'll have no problem seperating the towel into two pieces. Same principle.

Thanks. Actually, I have Camelots and Aliens. I sent the former off to BD for reslinging today. They get $5.00 per. I'd like to do the same for the Aliens but don't know where to send them -- so far couldn't find a Web site for CCH.
