I kinda set myself up for that one didn't I?
I don't want to talk about it or post reaponses on it, I just can't figure out why people smoke pot? I know some people that do smoke pot and I'm trying to help them get off it and I need to know the reasoning behind smoking it?

To the best of my knowledge, people smoke for the same reason they do other things (like climbing):
It feels good.
If you want ammo for getting your friends to quit you'd better have some solid evidence for why smoking pot is BAD for them. There isn't much evidence around that says its horrible for you, though. Lots of storied and tobacco lobby garbage, but little evidence.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Gawd, I don't mean to press my beliefs on anyone, and my religion does not shelter me. I went to public school for goodness sake. What are you trying to say? Are you bashing Mormonism? What is wrong with trying to stop the illegal use of drugs in this county? Yeah its I good thing that you don’t do any of though things but the way that is see to stop this crap is threw expressing the consiquenses that follow. Peer pressure gets a lot of people into it so why not use it to get people out and never using these substances. Yes we have to accept others decisions but when other people’s decisions hurt their lives and endanger lives of others we all should be concerned. Just like alcohol it can impair the senses and diving while high or caring a gun while high does affect us. So don’t think you can just run and hide from this.
We do what we love ( climbing ) and it can’t hurt anyone but us so do what you want but come on think about the consequences.

This is gonna be a tough one for ya. Your not going to want to do it, but we must all make sacrifices before the alter of understanding.
The only way that I know of to justify condemning something is to experience it.
If you have not experienced you do not know. Sex being equivalant to Pot in this case. Think about sex. Is their really any way to describe that feeling ,to someone who hasn't experienced it, that can really let them know how it feels?
I can tell you why people smoke pot all day long. Your not going to have a mucbh better idea of why when I'm done.
Try it.

I've never had sex and I can describe it.
Sex is like a warm apple pie, like having your whole body fall asleep(the tingling sensation), hot, full filling, exausting, passionate, humid, etc.
Did I get it right for someone who has never had it?

If you mean those that love us and are dissapointed and saddeded by it then you SHOULD NOT compare it to climbing. Obviously you have never had to talk to the family of someone who has cratered and either been seriously injured or died.
I promise you that they all wish to hell that that person had been smoking pot that day instead of climbing.

It's just like alcohol. Poeple dont think it hurts anyone else. But look at how many people drunk driving kills. The "Herbs" have the same depressing effects, a lot of people say stonger affects so... you see where i'm going.

I dont do it, and i dont think i ever will. but i think the real question is, Why do you care? if s ombody wants to smoke pot, let them. it doesnt efect you.

It is very obvious to me and anyone who has used marijuana, that you have never.
Remember this and nver forget: Pot is not like alchohol! They are two totaly diffrent things! I would smoke weed any day before drinking alchohol and I don't even smoke weed anymore.

look at a post a little above. I just wanted to know and see if someone could answer the age old question in a proffesional manner. instead it turns into a war on pot vs. drug free.
One more thing. I assume that all you pot smokers out there use it illegaly, right?

Legal and illegal issues have nothing to do with right and wrong. Infact, our government has it backwards. If they were smart, they would legalize weed and outlaw alcohol.
Why don't they? MONEY!
People tend not to become weeedaholics. Yes there are some people who do it in excess (as I once did), but most people grow out of those stages (like I did) without ever hurting anyone.
Sounds like all those "against" weed need a little education.
Question - Do we or do we not live in a free country?

bigger, with all the smoking, drinking, and sex that you do, I don't think that you'll make it to your 25 birthday. Could I be wrong, I don't think so.
