friction addiction was pretty good, masters of stone 5 was cool, just because of the crazy stuff that they make look so easy. vertical limit because i like to rip on it...

I thought "Touching the Void" was done very well.

I liked pilgrimage... mainly because Katie brown was supposed to be one of the 3 major climbers in the movie, and yet she appeared for a total of 5 minutes in it... Plus it has footage of Chris Sharma running headlong into a boulder after missing his footing for a dyno... only so often you can see something like that... plus the narration is awsome (massive amounts of sarcasm, for those who haven't seen it...)

Anything with Sharma in it, and he is going to be the main focus in the video. Pilgrimage was a good video, but Nate and Katie were both shadowed by the almighty Sharma! I agree the narative was too much,, every time they all sais so we can connect with the rock, it just sounded so freakin corny and ridiculous! Other then that, I thought the video quality and shots were excellent!

El Cap is number one. Fred Padula and Glen Denny did it right. Herzog's Cry of Stone is great. Catto and Hill's Jump! blows the mind.

That's the only strictly climbing movie that I own. My vote goes for it, if only for the segment at the creek (ie half the movie). The rest of the movie is ok. Timmy's rewatchability is very low - i find that the second or third time I've watched part of the movie with him talking I look for the mute button. However, the commentary w/ him and peter mortimer is actually pretty good for the entire movie.

I was always a fan of "one summer" by ben moon just because of the old school euro style.
The same with the original master of stone. I wish I could of lived through the days when real men wore tights!
(Stupid mainstream bouldering clothes!)

I´m surprised no has mentioned Rampage. That movie was probably the influencial in getting me interested in climbing. Before that I though t bouldering was more just training for big stuff!

There is also "Seven Years in Tibet", I know that movie is not climibng oriented 100% but the guys who made it were taking very seriously to be as realistic as possible, all the gear and techniques used are pretty much like tho ones used in those days.

Unfortunately, there's only about 3 minutes of climbing footage in the whole film. It's all character development and drama! Actually, it's a very good film.

Personally, I would vote that one "best old school belay scene." When Brad pitt's character has to hold that dude's fall with a body belay, then continue to hold his weigh as he prussicks up over the overhang... well it makes me want to kiss my Reverso.

I'd liked Splitter because it isn't all about bouldering.

I liked Intertia 1&2

The soundtrack to it is awesome. It makes me wanna climb.. Its a mood movie for me.

Vertical Limit was awesome. I cant belive you all bag it so much.. Ok forget about the fakness, and think of it as a movie., You gotta admit its was intertaining..

Touching the Void. Brilliant movie. Extremly dramatic and touching. My heart goes out to the people who alpine. The only thing I hate about that movie is scene where he is crawling back to the base camp.. It was kinda dragged out a little to much. But over all I love that movie..

cmon guys, the scene in MAasters of stone 5 where potter runs past that guy on a ldege is just classic, scripted or not!! That one takes the cake for me!

the yoesmite movie with Ron Kauk is pretty Lame, but is great without sound when having a climber dinner party.

Return to sender is funny as hell!!

"return to sender" mostly just the indian creek part...oh and the cartoon in the special features is a Fkin riot (the part with hans and uji (sp?) almost made me piss myself)

"uncommon ground" could have been my fave being a northeast dude but the whole movie is tiny clips of routes or single holds on boulder problems...
i wanted more start to finish stuff showing the process of climbing the northeast classics....

"touching the void" makes me happy to be a rock climber instead of a mountaineer...but its a rad film...

thats my word...

Well so far my favorite is Return 2 Sender, it has great crack climbing in Indian Creek and also the free soloing by Michael Reardon is awesome. It is a great film. I just ordered Masters of Stone 5. It looks really bitchin'.

"Life at your fingertips", if you haven't seen it, try your damndest to find it. it was made in 1986 and follows Patrick Edlinger on a solo of a 5.10d, I believe, although the film doens't say that, on a pretty large cliff, I'd guess about 300-400 feet, the film is short, only 13 minutes, but it's bad-ass, especially since it's 20 years old now. also if anyone does find it, tell me where, I haven't seen it in a long time.

My favorite climbing movies so far are Rampage, Dosage Vol. III, Pilgrimage, Masters of Stone V and Front Range Freaks cause Timmy O'Neill is a bad-ass.
